12 games into the season. Too little too late.
He's playing in hopes of conning aome other sucker into paying him the big bucks to sit on the bench.

Are you one of those people clamoring to see R. Grossman? It's not K. Stewart, it's the offensive line. They're blocking for him now as opposed to the first five games where the O line was as leaky as a sieve.

I think working the offense for the last 7 weeks with the scout team did him some good......JMJ

it's funny that we(the Steelers)got rid of him in favor of a career bum in Maddox. i said the team was gonna be 5-11 and it's looking that way.

Outcome would have been NO different if Grossman would have started. I think Juraun is doing this team a DISSERVICE by not starting the kid. He should be out on the field learning. The only chance the Bears have of making the playoffs is running the table. And let's face it that ain't going to happen. Juraun is just trying to save his job(as is Angelo). That is understandable however also not possible. So play Grossman and let him develop. That's just my opinion.

It hurts my heart to say so, cause he seems like such a nice guy, but Cordell's a bum at the QB position. He's got amazing athleticism and a strong arm, but he's an inaccurate passer and he makes horrible reads.
He should never pass from the pocket. Every pass play for the Bears should be slight fans or designed rollouts, where he passes on the run and consistently presents the double threat (pass/scramble). He needs a real quarterback mentor and maybe some glasses.

what! - someone bad mouthing Kordell????
there's no need to fear, Rated M to rescue!
by the way, how weak is the NFL? Bears fans think we got a shot at the playoffs.

Third highest in Steelers QB history? What, is that supposed to be impressive? Behind, OK Bradshaw(BIG ups) and who? Better question, who is he better than in Steeler quarterback history? The Foam-#1-Hand-Guy? The Beer Man? That's like being the 3rd best DJ on your block. I mean, don't shout that too loud.
Enough about stats, what has he done on the field in terms of leading his team to victory in big games? In big Playoff/Championship games?
Ya still there, M?
I know plenty about football, but what I know or don't know doesn't erase the fact that Cowher and lots of Stewart fans, like you, M, couldn't see for all of those years that having the best tools don't make you the best mechanic.
He sux. I'm really sorry.

Neither of these guys are gonna be hall-of-famers. I'm just saying, while Kordell is an exceptional athlete with an exceptional arm, he's barely a mediocre quarterback, as far as quarterbacks go.
The Steelers have traditionally had a strong run and pass defense and an above average running game, for pretty much the last 20 years. You guys haven't had a real QB since Bradshaw.

C'mon bro. You sound like a footbal fan. It doesn't matter what caused your team to be down.
If there's enough time left and the deficit's not too big (in this case there was PLENTY of time left, the D was playing great and the deficit was only 7), then the guy driving the offense who gets the multi-million contract is supposed to do things that help, not hinder your winning efforts. BOTTOM LINE. When given a fair chance to comeback under adverse conditions, HE DID NOT SHINE.
He choked.
Now, if you're just one of those cats that admire the brother and don't wanna bad-mouth him, then I can respect that. But don't say that this guy is a big time QB when the only thing at which he's been consistent.... is being inconsistent.

Here I come to save the day.
I have a Ph.D in football.
After reading these posts,I see many a neophyte
fan here.
For you Chicago people, what exactly did you expect of Kordell with the Bears?
They are a BAD team.
4-12 last year & minus Roosevelt Colvin and Ted Washington, with a shaky OL that is minus Big Cat Williams. Anthony Thomas coming off a bad year and no solid #2WR opposite Marty Booker.
They've already exceeded expectations.
You blame Kordell Stewart?
Were you blaming Brian Urlacher when he was more concerned with banging Paris Hilton than he was playing MLB? I remember Ahman Green running for 174yrds in week 3. Or how about with the score
17-13 and needing a stop the Vikings marched 93yrds almost all on the ground and they lost 24-13. Does Kordell play defense?
Week 1 the Bears were down 24-0 before Kordell threw an int. He doesn't get punts blocked or
pass protect.
No QB joins a system that's not built around him and florishes in 5 games.
Unrealistic expectations of Bears fans.
Plus they played 3 2002 division champs plus current 1st place Minnesota in the 1st 5 games.
When he was benched they played Det. twice and SD. Yet with weaker competition,Chris Chandler's numbers were only slightly better.
Kordell has returned and played well and when he has a solid running game to back him up can be
a successful QB.
The defense has improved and they have had a 100yrd runner in 3 of the 5 wins.
So that proves the Bears win and lose with a TEAM
performance, not on the back of any QB.
Kordell doesn't carry a team,but only about 5 NFL
QB's do. All he does is win games.
He left Pittsburgh with a 46-29 record,4th best of ALL NFL QB's with at least 50 starts and has been nominated to the Pro Bowl twice, thus making
him the most QUALIFIED QB on the Bears.
Rex Grossman? PLEASE.
How many Fla.Gators QB's have been good in the NFL? NONE! Only Brad Johnson of has been good from Fla.St. and 3 of all the Miami QB's.
Grossman was benched at times in College, but Bears fans expect him to win in the NFL?
Another Cade McNown.
Your previous QB,Jim Miller played behind Kordell
on the Steelers,so again obviously he improves the QB position in Chicago.
Kordell has merely been used as a pawn to deflect scorn off of Dick Jauron the same way he was for Bill Cowher. Now Cowher can't hide and his head is on the block.
For Steelers fans(like you Kev),they made a titanic mistake letting Stew go for a journeyman bum off the street in Maddox.
Kordell has taken the weight for the 2 AFC Championships, when that is a fallacy.
Everyone chose to forget that in '97 John Elway
marched the field in 2 minutes to score before halftime,or the fact that the defense that hadn't allowed a 100yrd runner all year got torched by Terrell Davis.
Why do that when blaming Kordell is easier?
In 2001,the Steelers running game was #1 avg.175yrds per game. In the AFC Championship they got 58(Kordell got 41 of that).
What lost the game was the 2 special teams TD's
the Steelers allowed. Kordell outscored Brady & Bledsoe 17-10,so take away the Special teams mistakes and the Steelers win, plus he's not passing late in the game because they'd have been winning.
Cowher lost more big games than Kordell ever did. They lost to weak SD in 1994,
they blew a Super Bowl that they dominated for the last 3 qtrs. It's not all on O'Donnell.
The Steelers scarificed the 1st qtr, trailing 10-0. How many did they lose by? 10pts.
So Cowher was blowing games long before Kordell.
What happened last year? They went 1 round shorter in the playoffs with Tommy(Mr.Interception) Maddox than they had with Kordell. The Steelers are 13-18-1 since 1996 with
all QB's NOT named Kordell Stewart.
They are 46-29 with him.
So all of you can talk all the trash you want.
Just like Jay Fiedler in Miami,Kordell may not win in classic style but he wins games.
His performance yesterday was the best by a Bears QB this year.
Watch dumb azz Jauron go back to Chandler just
like Cowher did last year after Stew won 2 key
games down the stretch. The result?
Houston 24-Steelers 7
Tommy Maddox 2 ints returned for TD's and 1 fum
returned for a TD.
That game cost the Steelers home field advantage.
The team that had HFA reached the Super Bowl.
Remember the Steelers had DOMINATED Tampa Bay 2 years in a row.
MAYBE if Cowher had stayed with Stew,he might have a big ring right now.
Instead he's out of the playoffs with POP GUN Maddox. They have won 9 fewer games this year
than in 2001 with Stew.
He may not be Johnny U.or Joe Montana, but he was the best QB the Steelers had and he's the
that the Bears have too.
Don't talk about all time QB's.
The Bears have only had 1 great QB,Sid Luckman 50yrs ago. McMahon wasn't as good as O'Donnell,
because he stayed hurt.
So what do Bears fans know about good QB's?
Dr.Bro.T Ph.D

I know plenty about football, but what I know or don't know doesn't erase the fact that Cowher and lots of Stewart fans, like you, M, couldn't see for all of those years that having the best tools don't make you the best mechanic.
He sux. I'm really sorry. </font>[/QUOTE]

MK,
your standards are low.
You claim Maddox was good last year?
In 12 games he threw 20TD's and had 16INTS.
He led the NFL in interceptions per attempt.
Add in the 3 fumbles that makes 20TD's 19Turnovers. That's good to you?
You seem to find a way to absolve Maddox of
blame,but you only blame Kordell.
Cowher is responsible for the OL,he chose not to
keep Wayne Gandy at LT. He moved Marvell Smith over from RT and left a gaping hole on the other side. A MOBILE QB like Kordell can still make plays with a shaky OL.
He has for DaBears.
Maddox is among the league leaders in int pct again this year, near the bottom in red zone passing and 3rd down conversions.
73yrds passing against Cleveland.
The Steelers are 0-5-1 when Maddox passes for over 300 yards. So he loses more than he wins.
11-11-1 in Pittsburgh. Not 46-29.
The breakdowns on offense, defense and special teams, the penalties and bad coaching decisions
were there when Kordell was QB too,yet he overcame them and won. Now that he's gone we are
completely exposed.
Bill COWARD must go. 12yrs is too long.
Take his sorry boy Pop gun with him.
He's just a brown haired version of Kent Graham.
You are one of the Steelers fans who were duped into believing that a career bum was better than a 2 time Pro Bowl QB.
Take away the names and say QB-A vs QB-B.
Rank Kordell's career accomplishments against Maddox. NO CONTEST. You'd pick Kordell if you didn't know it was him.
He's just been the scapegoat of many Steelers fans frustration of losing big games.
He wasn't in last year,so it was "the refs fault"
that we lost in the playoffs.
This year the scapegoat is CB Dewayne Washington.
But it never seems to be the 2 prime SUSPECTS.
Cowher and Maddox.

I never said I didn't like Kordell...and maybe I was a little bit on Maddoxx's strap last year. I guess with the season we had, we looked pretty darn good and I was starting to feel very happy again (as happy as I was the season when we lost to Dallas in the SB) about the team. And the magic I saw between Maddoxx and Ward/Burress as well as Randle El, it felt good to see a (what I thought was a ) solid passing game when since Bradshaw we relied mostly on the running game. But I will be the first to admit, I am no pro football analyst, just merely a fan (maybe not a great fan, but a fan nonetheless) Cowher has a lot of heart but does make some shitty plays.
I always thought Kordell was a great mobile QB...I really liked him when he was "Slash"
I guess when you don't watch every game or follow it as close as I used to, the media can 'dupe' you into believing certain things that are not necessarily true, same as everyday life...current events...etc..etc
I wish Kordell much success with the Bears or any other team he may end up on...and maybe with the right supporting cast he can excel as a QB..I know he is no Favre, McNair or whatever but like you said there aren't too many dominant QB's anymore anyway
Brother T...I hope you are doing well
Peace
