bought the philly classics lp really cheap on ebay. 8$. but its been a month and I havent received any record yet. the seller claims he has sent the item.. is there any way for me to check this ?? I have bought lots of records and never had any problems with shipping.

To me it seems really easy for a seller to just not send the record and claim postal service error.

I understand its a hazard not to ship registered and insured, I think it many times is too expensive.

this sucks as I recently also bought the cd and had this stolen.. graemlins/mecry.gif

should I just accept this?? I feel bad leaving negative feedback if itīs true that he actually has sent me the record and it got lost on the way..

peace /john

isnt there a way to see if this seller has had multiple complains for this issue?

That is a tough one.

I would see if the seller can provide you with a reciept of shipment.

I have never sold on EBAY, but for record-keeping sake (no pun intended) I would always get reciepts if I was not using registered mail.

graemlins/conf44.gif yes thats what Iīve been thinking.. when I talked to my post service they said that I should ask the seller for a tracking code.. I asked the seller for it but he said that his reciept didnt have one.??

when do you get that and when dont you??

at least maybe i should demand to see his receipt??

John...if it's sent from the UK wait a while...the post in London at least is STILL really fucked after a postal strike. A record I sent out airmail 2 weeks ago still hasn't turned up overseas to an ebayer I sold to. I thought airmail was supposed to get priority...

Anyway, to answer your question...there's nothing you can do really. If the guy has lots of good feedback I doubt he'll be ripping you off. I've had shit lost in the post before...it sucks.

/john </font>[/QUOTE]If the sender did not use any sort of priority mail and what not, there isn't necessarily a tracking #.

But if he can fax or send you the reciept then at least you can verify it wasn't his screw up.

Without any insurance though the sender cannot make a claim on a lost package, and insurance is usually cheap.

Do you live in an apartment building?

Many times packages get stolen at my building, so any time I get a package I request for delivery ONLY upon my own signature.

do not think it would solve your problem to see a receipt. it can be a receipt for any package if the detail is not there.

I've been using eBay since 1997 and no, there's not much you can do other than leave negative feedback.

I bought a record from an English record store about 5 months ago and still haven't got my record. It was off of GEMM and I payed $30.00 for it. I was so pissed that I left negative feedback on them on the GEMM rating meter. 30.00 dollars down the drain. graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

Did you pay with paypal? If so, you might be able to claim back the funds. Even though you shouldn't be able to, IMO...

As I understand paypal, if a seller doesn't ship via a trackable method then all the buyer has to do is say it hasn't turned up. Even if it has! I always ship via recorded delivery within the UK, but the options to ship trackable to the US are prohibitively expensive. By the sounds of things I now have to either risk shipping to a dodgy buyer or not ship at all to the US. Seems very stupid to me, as the onus should be on the buyer: if you don't want it sent trackable then you can't complain if it gets lost/damaged. Paypal's reversed the burden of responsibility.

(Or maybe I've completely misunderstood their T&C).

Shipping out packages on a daily basis I've come across lots if international customers and a few domestics that claim they never received their package. Being in retail I usually have to credit their account beccause they can turn around and report it to their cc company. Their is no protection for the merchant (in fraud and non-fraud cases) so the consumers wins 99% of the time. It sucks because you can't send intl orders with any sort of delivery confirmation at this time. Did you send payment via paypal? If so, trying contacting your bank or CC company and see if they can remove the charge. It's worth a shot.

I've also just experienced the same problem with an ebay user in the uk (I will name & shame - bassgenerator records - complete chancers). I paid them via paypal almost 4 months ago, after the first month they admitted that they had not sent the item due to illness, after 6 weeks I got positive feedback but still no item. 4 months on still no item. I left them negative feedback & they have responded on ebay with pure lies, they will not respond to my emails.

You can use the ebay Square Trade service but in my case the cost of using a mediator was more than the price of the item.
I am tempted just to bid on all of the users items and not bother paying etc but that would just bring me down to their level, but its very tempting.

Hey Mark, do you know of London-based eBay seller "streetrecords"? I can't tell if I'm being lied to or not by this guy, who's owed me a Coolnotes CD for ages.
