This just in, M3 launches an alternative to the annual Winter Music Conference! Miami will never be the same! Here are the official details, you heard it here FIRST on BounceFM!

New Music and Technology Summit Gathers Industry Leaders
to Strategize and Retool for the Future.

New York, December 11, 2003 - M3: Miami Music & Multimedia is the new music and technology summit which will take place March 5-9, 2004, in South Beach, Florida. Offering a two-day executive summit and four nights of artist showcases, M3 is designed to meet the needs of an industry struggling to understand new technologies and the rapidly changing demands of the business. It will involve extensive participation by leaders from related fields, including telecommunications, advertising, film, fashion and video games, and is organized with the belief that the current state of the music industry offers tremendous opportunities for innovation and growth to those willing to embrace the challenge. While M3’s focus is electronic and dance music, it will strive to expand the definition of these musical genres in order to address changes in consumer tastes and the evolution of the music itself.
M3 will consist of two main components. The first is the M3 Summit, running 10 am – 5 pm March 6-7 in the M3 Summit Tent, a 10,000 square foot air-conditioned tent on the beach. The M3 Summit will include keynote speeches, seminars and discussions on such topics as mobile content delivery, third-party licensing, digital distribution and other emerging platforms for music marketing and distribution. The M3 Summit will also provide ample space for conducting business meetings, and for sponsors and other partners to present new products and interact with summit attendees. The M3 Summit Tent will be used in partnership with Funkshion, a music-fashion-style event (http://www.funkshion.com) starting March 7.

The M3 Sunset Sessions, running 5-10 PM March 6-9 at the Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel’s beachside pool (www.surfcomber.com), will be the social hub for M3. It is here that M3 Summit attendees will be joined by leading artists, sponsors, and other invited guests to mingle, network, and experience some of the best live bands and DJs working in electronic and dance music. Entrance to both the M3 Summit and the M3 Sunset Sessions will be restricted to M3 registrants and invited guests, and will be closed to the general public. In addition, M3 will partner with other event producers and party promoters to ensure that M3 participants enjoy access to other exciting parties and events taking place throughout the week.

In addition to the aforementioned venues, M3 will also take over The Nash Hotel (www.hotelnash.com), which will serve as the M3 Business Hub. The hotel will be wired for free high-speed Internet access, and will offer hospitality suites for M3 sponsors and other participating companies and labels eager to host small group gatherings, offer product samples to industry leaders, debut the latest music, and to present and explain new technologies.

M3 will run concurrently with the long-standing annual industry gathering in South Beach, and was founded by David Prince, who for the past five years has produced The Miami Master List, the definitive guide to all social events taking place that week. The Miami Master List, which will be re-branded the M3 Masterlist, has a subscriber base of 20,000 people, a testament to Prince's unique, trusted relationship with the international electronic music community. The other equity partners in M3 are Flavorpill’s Mark Mangan and Sasha Lewis, event producer Carolyn Clerkson, and Vickie Starr and Felice Ecker of Girlie Action.

Note: Special thanks to David Prince for the Exclusive!

Well be down there to license music and sign artists. The more resources for doing this, the better, IMO.

Does anyone actually go to the actual conference? When I went we just went to all the parties and looked at the lovely ladies on the beach. Someone told me there was an conference that it was based around at some venue or other which nobody attended.
