As a DJ how do you stay focused?

A DJ plays for the people & sometimes folks want to come up to the booth to share their love. But, doesn't a DJ need to get into a "zone"...like a musician taking a mind-altering solo? I've seen zone like that. How do you stay focused with all the distraction. Are you really "pizzed" sometimes graemlins/cussing.gif but play it politically correct? biggrinangel.gif

All I can say is when I'm in that zone...it helps to have a partner who knows your style because that partner will deflect people for you...

When I'm there , Faire 1 will answer peoples questions before they even get to me....I do the same for him...

i think a true professional would work it out. i am amazed how Frankie Knuckles has all those people coming to see him at the HOB booth. He manages to be keep the music bangin and still find time to talk everyone. Even if it's just to shake your hand or give a hug. People know not to camp out in the booth. I think this is part of his charm and the reason why he has built a loyal following throughout the years.
