View Full Version : I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS STORY IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH MEDIA COVERAGE

I just heard about this yesterday afternoon & could not believe my ears. I just could not imagine anyone leaving a two year old alone at home for one day let alone 3 weeks.
After she was treated for malnutrition that poor baby ate 4 pieces of chicken, 1 cheese burger, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese & 2 pints of milk.
I think there's more to this story than what's being told. You can't tell me that no one knew that this baby was there alone she had to crying hysterically. :(

I know this story has already been posted but I was up all night last night looking for more information but I didn't hear anymore about it.
I heard about the deaths on I-90, the Garbage strike, the cubs, gay rights, leak from the White House, etc but nothing about this poor little girl :(

Because it happens all the time. Maybe not like this, and not always a child that young, but the parents don't always get caught. They've been running the story for a couple of days, but what else is there to say about it? Kids are left home to fend for themselves by their parents all the time. This is nothing new. They can't cover every story, just as they can't cover every story about someone getting killed in the 'hood. Another kid to add to the DCFS roster. It's just not rare news.

I'm real curious why the father waited two/three weeks to even attempt to knock on her door...why is it that he called the jail first???? I'm sorry I'm glad he actually took the initiative to go look at the house but where was that determination to find his baby girl the first phone call to the mother????
they showed pictures of the little girl and her father this morning, a real cutie. the mama did not intend this i'm sure, but getting locked up cut her off, some reports said the kid was left with neighbors

Definitely, Speak Up!! My daughter is 2 yrs old and is left alone!!
Also, another good question would be was she at the house when she was arrested?? Why didn't they search the house for any children?? Also, if she was out when she was arrested, then the child was already alone!!! I'm sorry but there needs to be more coverage on this!

I saw the little girl yesterday, & looked pretty healthy physically but I'm not sure about her mental status.
Reports say that when the father found his daughter she held him so tight he couldn't pry her off him. He also found three piles of feces on the floor & urine stains on the bed.

He went knocking on the doors of several neighbors who didn't know where the child was. That's when he got the manager to let him in.
Yeah, there aren't too many 2yr olds being left like this for 3 weeks, but think about the parents that went on vacation and left the two kids for a couple of weeks or so.I think they'd even gone out of the country. I think the girls were like 6 & 3 or 9 &3. People do this stuff and just are slick with it. She had an opportunity to tell them that child was alone and she chose not to. She was willing to not get into any more trouble by divulging that she'd left her child alone, assuming the risk that the child would've died from starvation; then she'd have been looking at murder charges.

it could be that the neighbors did care for the kid for part of that time

That's pitiful and evil in itself, but at least then the shorties can look out for each other! This is way worse than any child neglect story I've heard recently...
Big ups to that baby for taking care of herSELF! I hope she is moved to a good home where her incredible inner strength is nurtured.

This little girl was smart she survived off of ketchup, mustard, jelly, raw eggs & raw pasta.
After leaving hospital, as I said before, she ate 4 PIECES of chicken, 1 cheese burger, Mashed potatoes, Mac-n-Cheese, & 2 pints of milk.
I know the little girl was very hungry but she may have eaten like that for fear of not being able to eat anymore.

As far as the phone call Bill, that's one of my questions too? Who did she call? Did they give her a chance to call? Did she even bother to ask if she could make a call?

you can't assume that she got a call, that they read her rights, that she was lawfully arrested or that she was guilty

Maybe it's been done before, but not as long. Maybe the little girl goes in the fridge & feeds herself because the mother is too busy.
Another report I heard was they found canned goods with the labels ripped off. They assumed she tore them off thinking that it would open the can.

Would we rather stories like this in the Headlines (anyone can do this and there is nothing you can do to stop it) OR stories which raise awareness about things you could @ least make some noise about?

I guess what really got me was the way she swayed into the courtroom, Like "Yeah, its me , I did it, so what". From the shots I saw, she showed no remorse at all. IMO Her dumb-ass should be given in years the same amount of days she left her daughter alone.
