Does anyone own one of these bad boys?

Does anyone know where I can get something similar (like a vst or something) for a Mac?

Anyone...one...one...one...

Thanks guys. But I'm looking for a Mac AU or VST. :(

I found one for the Mac from UAD (plus, they have Roland's "Blessing")

Here's the site: http://www.uaudio.com/products/software/re201/index.html

Here's a sample: http://websrvr25ca.audiovideoweb.com/ca25web26009/Webzine/March06/RE-201_webzine.mp4

Roland also came out with a guitar pedal called the RE-20:

Of course, I know nothing beats the real thing but...

Anyone have any of these?

I need that Space...Space...Space...Echo...Echo...Echo...

my music partner and I use one of them in almost every track of ours.
I love it. Great for synths, Great for drums and of-coarse for vocals etc..

Foreal...the plugins suck big time after playing with the real thing for about 20 seconds.

it shouldnt be too expensive. (maybe 300$?) worth every penny.

The only "issue" is changing the tape once in a while. (and getting the right tape - the studio I work with orders it from Australia I think) - but no big deal.

If I was dropped on an island etc... a space echo would def' be on my short list of gear

go for it

I have seen one of these baby's in a second hand shop but never used one. I hear from those you use them they are really nice. I almost bought it but the tape thing kind of put me off.

See, I'm also worried about the whole tape thing. What if one day they stop making the tape? :(

I've always seen them for $500+ on ebay and craigslist. :(

That's really getting silly. Either decide to get one or not, but worrying about tape is crazy, there's plenty around in fact i still have good reels from 1970.

Good, you can lend me some tapes then. ;)

The RE-20 sounds great. They're dirt cheap and easy to take with you. I use it to death in the studio and don't have to worry about breaking cherished gear when I take it out to do live gigs. That being said, I still plan on getting the real deal one of these days.

If you're looking at budget options you may also want to check out that new eventide - timefactor. Tape delay is supposed to be very good and you'd have midi. No midi sync on the pedal and I'm not sure about the originals.

If you're bent on getting the real deal - which I can completely understand - you might want to check out some of the other models Roland made in that period. I've heard a lot of good things about the 501 and the 555.
