View Full Version : how do i defrost my refrigerator?

man, i need help. our refrigerator/freezer is warmer than it needs to be. do i need to defrost it? i don't know what to do. if it needs to be defrosted, what is the process?
right now, i took all of the food out of it and unplugged it. i also am taking the stuff off of the top of it. any other ideas? i NEED MY COLD WATER and FOOD!!

Don't have your fridge close to the wall.Pull it out a lil,away from the wall.Sometimes,you need to have a lil breathing room for the fridge to work properly.If that doesn't help,you may need some freon or a new fridge.

BTW,just let the ice in the freezer melt and if it is thick,chop some of it off.Make sure you disinfect the fridge good.

After you pull it away from the wall, vacuum the coils in the back to get rid of dust buildup.Also check out this site for future reference http://www.howtocleananything.com/

You must have an old one like me most newer models
don't need defrosting.Here are two non-conventional methods I use.You will need a mop, bucket, something to pick ice.First way, is to pick the ice,this way is real messy but it works, but be careful not to damage unit.Second, big pot of boiling water, take every thing out of freezer
do this on both ways of course.Put pot in freezer
and keep changing water.Work fast to conserve energy and food.Hope this helps you some.
