Text:

Thursday: After a long stretch of minimal sounds coming from Germany's thriving electronic music scene, DJs and producers are maxing out. Not quite swinging all the way to the big, young sounds of on-point trends like fidget house, but there is a certain post-minimal sound—not as cold, but still reserved. The austerity is being shaken off in favor of added bounce and glamour.

Berlin DJ/producer Till von Sein started out as a hip-hop artist but in the last two years has evolved into one of Eastern Europe's cool up-and-coming purveyors of deep house. His DJ sets are grown up and sophisticated, favoring a dubby softness, songs with a lot of space to them, but never forgetting why it is we all go to the club in the first place.

9 p.m. at Sonotheque, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., $14 (21+); 312-226-7600.

Special thanks goes to Jessica Hopper of Punk Planet and http://tiny.abstractdynamics.org/ (her blog) fame for the write-up.

Also featured in Going.com as one of the editor’s picks for the week.

Come join us as we listen to the future.

This is Till von Sein's first trip to Chicago and his first trip ever to North America.
