I am looking at getting a good drum machine. I am one of the people who got hit in this recession so please don't tell me about a machine that Quincy Jones owns :-)... But seriously something a little inexpensive for me to do as a hobby. Someone told me about the Boss systems, and I just want to know

You can pick up an mpc1000 or an mpc2000 for about $500-700 used on ebay. If you have the money go for a mpc2500 or if you have a couple of grand to blow you could get the big new one or wait for the Linn Drum II to come out. The Linn Drum II is likely to be worth the wait.
The MFB drum computer is a cool little machine as well but doesn't sample. You'll sometimes see Jomox xbase 09 on ebay for around 500$. The electribe esx is fun and sounds pretty good but you'll need a smart card reader.
You can find a lot of old Rolands cheap on ebay as well - Tr-707, 727, 606, & the 505.

It all depends on what kind of stuff you want to do. For starters I would say get an MPC. It's really versatile and you can play any drum machine on it because it's a sampler.
Also, when you choose to get synths or more machines, you can use the MPC as a sequencer.
Good luck.

Korg Electribe EM1, best bang for your dollar IMO (specifically when starting out and just trying to bang out beats and a couple synth patterns). It is simple to use, affordable and translates well into the studio ($200 on ebay / don't let the price fool you, its quality, I use it more then my Triton shhhhh)!

just been browsing and came across www.watchec.net (http://watchec.net/) there prices seem to be way lower that standard. All of the wristwatches (http://watchec.net/) seem to be priced around $300 to $400. Are they fakes? The site seems to look quite legit.
