Alright, I'm buggin on the "just get along" part (even though we should). But I witnessed on of the best performances I've seen in years. I am totally drained from Ms. Khan's performance and the 90+ degree heat.
It's amazing how this woman can go from alto, soprano, tenor and even contralto in the flip of a switch. Her versatility is just plain amazing. Sing any song in any key. I, as a musician, am humbled by this performance, for it is a reminder of what it takes to get to that level.
Everybody was tight. Chaka was tight, the band was tight, the background vocalists were tight. The sun was tight ( graemlins/jpshakehead.gif ). And to figure that I was not going to attend, due to the line to get in, the crowd, and the heat. Glad I chose to go. It will take me a while to recover from this.
What was the best show I've ever seen?
a) The Jacksons, Triumph Tour, 1981 (The Garden, NYC)
b) Larry Graham, Live At Trammps, (1996)
c) Chaka Khan, Summerstage (2003)
Oh, yeah, time to put Chaka with Billie, Ella and Sarah. That's right, I said it!!!! Peace.
