Since it's snowing here in the northeast, I'm going to try to make myself feel better by planning my summer trip to California. Can anyone tell me how far LAX is from the club where Marques Wyatt has his party? I know LA is not a cab city, so would it be best to rent a car to get there? Finally are there any hotels in the immediate area? Thanks in advance for any help.

it's pretty far. if you can find a rental car for $30-40, i'd do it. check citysearch for some hotels in the area.

Hi (Im)poster:
1) check out www.cued-up.com (http://www.cued-up.com) if you need more info. on Deep and any other L.A. events
2) depending on how long your vaca is, public transportation might not be a bad idea if it's a short stay. Riding the bus is always interesting; depending on your budget taking the cab can be costly.
3) My hotel picks based on distance from Deep:
Roosevelt Hotel - not the most snazzy place to stay, but it's a great historic Hollywood landmark. Some of the best party's were held at the Roosevelt...
Magic Castle Hotel - catch a magic show and dinner while you're here!
Chateau Marmont Hotel - Their bar is one of my favs smile.gif
Hollywood Standard
Saharan Motor Hotel - kidding! yet, it is used quite a lot for filming...this might be your chance to star in a music video! ;)
Argyle Hotel
Mondrian Hotel
Sunset Marquis Hotel and Villa
The girls and I (and my boyfriend if I can get that trance addict to go) will definitely make an appearance at Deep this summer. All L.A. DHPers interesting in a rendezvous this summer, let me know! :D It'll be the first official DHP LA meet-up...?

Thanks for the info, guys! I should have known without asking that nothing in Southern California is close to anything else. Oh, I'm so afraid to get on those highways. I used to get lost even when I lived there!
Where's Albert D. when I need tips?

The highway can definitely be scary, especially during rush-hour when making the transition from the 405 S onto 10 W(!) - - I hated that ramp.
(Im)poster, if you don't mind me asking, why did you move from L.A. to the NE?
First thing is first...RENT A CAR! This isn't New York where you can rely on public transportation to get around. Second, I don't know what to tell you about the hotels cause I only prefer staying at Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton. Anything else is just not my style so I don't go there. Marriott has different hotels to meet your needs like "Courtyard" and "Fairfield Inn." Third, DEEP is one of the better places to check out the best of the best, but I don't like going there very much. I don't like the sound system (not crisp, thick sound), I don't like the lighting (too much and it's not dark enough), and I don't like the location (too big and too spacious). If you'll be here by the 11th of April then I'd recommend checking out MORE on the closing night. I'll be there for sure but get there EARLY cause I'm pretty sure it will be packed and it's the biggest joint in LA. Also, I would recommend "Does your mama know?" with Tony Largo and company. IMO it's the best house club in LA. If you need more detailed info or help just PM me. smokin.gif

Thanks Albert for the added info. Makes me think I better try to catch Marques while he's touring these parts. I am going to be in Northern California in June, so I will miss the party you recommend. I was just going to try to get a cheap flight to LA solely to check out Deep. Doesn't sound worth it now because San Fran has a scene I've been pleased with. Think I'll just relax and stay in parts I know better.
Surreal: I'm from Oakland and I lived in LA for a year for work and then moved to these parts for work as well. I've been thinking a lot about California lately -- espescially on dreary days like today when there is snow on the ground in April!
