In my short time on the DHP, I've learned that many of yall men are some wishy washy dudes. Some interesting observations:
ON ONE HAND:
If a woman isn't "giving it up" soon enough, a man will get some elsewhere (The old "if you won't someone else will" Jeddi Mind Trick, eh?)...
ON THE OTHER:
If you have sex early on, or return a man's interest in you, then he's no longer interested in you...
ON ONE HAND:
Women are stupid for being into bad men, and staying in bad or abusive relationships...
ON THE OTHER:
Men aren't bad or stupid for being abusers and just plain rude jerks...
ON ONE HAND:
Women DJs are judged by their looks as well as their skill...
ON THE OTHER:
A male DJ can look like turd (and, some of yall spin like turd) and still get props...
ON ONE HAND:
It's okay for men on DHP to constantly post threads of jokes about women, photos featuring scantily clad women and make all kinds of sexual and other comments about women...
ON THE OTHER:
Women are judgemental, insensitive and hypocritical for posting photos and making comments about other women...
I've noticed other contradictions, but these are the ones that come to mind first...
Anyone care to comment?

Sure, I'll bite. I'll list my responses after each of your quotes.....
"In my short time on the DHP, I've learned that many of yall men are some wishy washy dudes."
Many? Isn't that a bit broad? Also, please take into consideration that some of the guys here are notorious jokers....
"ON ONE HAND:
If a woman isn't "giving it up" soon enough, a man will get some elsewhere (The old "if you won't someone else will" Jeddi Mind Trick, eh?)..."
A good number of women today are the same way. The series "Sex In The City" is based upon the concept of sexually liberated women. Nobody refers to these women as sluts, whores or trollops.
Some men (and women) look at that concept as a very brutal form of honesty. Sex is a paramount quantity in their ideal relationship and lack of said quantity is grounds for termination of said relationship.
Would you rather have that said partner kept you stringing on, while he engaged in relations with another person behind your back?
Kind of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, eh?
In addition, I could easily substitute "money" for "sex" and make an argument against women...it would be a very wrong and very generalistic statement, but I could make one.
"ON THE OTHER:
If you have sex early on, or return a man's interest in you, then he's no longer interested in you..."
I could flip the script with the "bad boy" argument, saying that if you treat a woman too nicely, she'll think that you are an easy mark (spelled c-h-u-m-p) and not respect you. But, despite damning evidence, I can say that it is not true. A lot of men think so, and a substantial number of women perpetuate that idea, but I know that it is not true.
Another argument to counter that statement is that so many men today are jaded due to the lack of sincerity in so many relationships today. Women can also make that claim.
"ON ONE HAND:
Women are stupid for being into bad men, and staying in bad or abusive relationships..."
They are. The first time he "brings home a case of the clap," you find a bunch of those "little baggies" or he "shows you the back of his hand" it's time to leave.
I don't mean that they should end the relationship (though it should definetly be considered as an option) but until the man agrees to undergo some sort of relationship therapy or consuling, all bets should be off.
For a woman to remain in a situation is a demonstration of a lack of survival skills. Entirely too many women are severely injured or killed due to their not obeying the warning signs.
"ON THE OTHER:
Men aren't bad or stupid for being abusers and just plain rude jerks..."
Where have you seen on this page any men (or women) voicing approval of abusive men? Okay...and really mean it.
I'm not saying that you have not seen anything like that. I'm just asking.
I have no tolerance for rude people in general. I have only disgust for abusive people...not men, not women...people. Men can be and are victims in abusive relationships.
I have a habit of heaping ridicule and scorn on such people, hoping that it will allow them to see that something is wrong with themselves and that they should seek help.
"ON ONE HAND:
Women DJs are judged by their looks as well as their skill..."
Okay. Here is the reality. Women in celebrity will always be judged on their looks...period.
It ain't right, but it is so.
Unfortunately, that means that an unattractive woman will have to be twice to three times the DJ that a pretty woman has to be.
It sucks big time, but that's the nature of the beast.
But that's nothing new. People (men and women) have been judging each other by their looks since time immemorial.
"ON THE OTHER:
A male DJ can look like turd (and, some of yall spin like turd) and still get props..."
Yes, men are judged by skill alone, not looks. But who does he get props (based on his looks) from?
Men don't care how he looks...just how he spins.
So, who does care how a male DJ looks?
Gay men and hetero women, that's who.
Don't blame the men for that.
"ON ONE HAND:
It's okay for men on DHP to constantly post threads of jokes about women, photos featuring scantily clad women and make all kinds of sexual and other comments about women..."
They post jokes about men as well (i.e. David Mancuso's Adam and Eve joke) and have you seen what gets posted on "Freaky Friday?"
Disco Goddess, Just for the record, I won't call you a man-hater if you decide that you want to post a couple of short-dick jokes on the board.
If they are funny, I'll even laugh at them.
G-Man will put anyone on notice who does anything that is truly insulting, but if there is something that you take offense to, there is the freedom to defend your sensibilities on this board.
"ON THE OTHER:
Women are judgemental, insensitive and hypocritical for posting photos and making comments about other women..."
Please, I hope that you are not referring to the "pregnant prom-dress picture."
Just for the record, I got a kick out of that picture...the fact that somebody would let their daughter out of the house wearing that get-up was astounding.
Also for the record, I find that the vast majority of the women (and men) who post on this page to be of rather high intelligence and to be very well versed on many subjects. I haven't had this much fun on a board in years.
There are no "real" women-haters here. Yes, some of the men have minor sexist attitudes, but a couple of the women have "emasculating" tendencies as well.
As for my personal outlook, I'm rather consistent with my attitudes. If you catch me in a contradiction, take the time to ask me why first before you point an accusing finger.
Now, I just decided to address each of your points as I saw them. However, let me warn you that you are probably opening yourself up for a flamewar. Some other people might not be nearly as reasonable or willing to keep this a calm debate as I am.
Well, those are my comments....

I'd have to say that I agree with KragShot on most everything he said. I can say that I am one of those "nice guys" that has had a really hard time keeping a relationship, mainly due to the fact that most mistook my kindness for weakness (read: being a punk), and I had to fire them.
I am single and ready to mingle, but I am EXTREMELY selective about who I choose and for what reasons now.
I cannot speak for the rest of the male population, but I can certainly speak for myself, and I will address each one of your points as they apply to me as well.
I have to admit, I used to be like this. I grew up. Sex is not as important to me now. What is most important is how you handle business. I have an agenda on where I'd like to be in 10 years, and I need to know that the person that I choose to share those 10 years with has the same, or a similar, agenda as me. If the sex comes early, bonus for daddy! If it doesn't, big deal. My most recent relationship, I held out for 1 1/2 years and still didn't get any. Can someone say the "Patience of Job?"
However, quite a few of my long-term relationships have started off sexually, just because we had that chemistry, and it was too strong to ignore. Notice how I said long term. I have only had 1 one-night-stand in my lifetime, and I still remeber her name and the circumstances. Go figure...
ON ONE HAND:
Women are stupid for being into bad men, and staying in bad or abusive relationships...
ON THE OTHER:
Men aren't bad or stupid for being abusers and just plain rude jerks...
On the one hand, yes. Yes they are stupid.
On the other, yes. Yes they are bad. Any man that has to hit a woman (except under extreme, life-threatening circumstances) is a beeyotch-azz nukka in my eyesight, and couldn't get my respect if they paid me.
ON ONE HAND:
Women DJs are judged by their looks as well as their skill...
ON THE OTHER:
A male DJ can look like turd (and, some of yall spin like turd) and still get props...
I judge all by their skill, but I have always been an admirer of the female form. If I happen to become entranced by a beautiful woman to a point that I can't hear anything except for "Dream Weaver" (sorry for the Wayne's World reference), that's not my fault. God made me that way. I can usually exercise some self-restraint and ignore it long enough to tell if a blend is on or if I can groove to her music, but if she's really fine, I am a simpering, drooling idiot. Hormones are a pain in the azz.
I'm not trying to look at a dude like that, so of course, I will judge him by his skill, as I will a woman that does not appeal to my chauvinistic senses.
ON ONE HAND:
It's okay for men on DHP to constantly post threads of jokes about women, photos featuring scantily clad women and make all kinds of sexual and other comments about women...
ON THE OTHER:
Women are judgemental, insensitive and hypocritical for posting photos and making comments about other women...I don't think that it's okay for men to do that. I feel that in a perfect society, we should be respectful of each other. It would make this a better place to live. However, since we do not live in a perfect world, we should at least get in the habit of posting a warning of some kind in the subject line so that people that could be easily offended by such material can have the option not to look at the thread. And nobody's stopping you from posting some offensive material of your own. ^_^ Nonetheless, with freedom of speech comes great responsibility. We have to assume that everybody will say something that will offend someone at some time or another. Therefore we have to be sensitive to this issue and let people know what kind of content we put forth so that they can decide for themselves whether they want to be involved.
Where my tolerance level runs short is when there are individuals that read, listen to, or view everything that they can get their hands on, and then complain that something offended them. Of course it did, dumbass. (ooh! did I offend someone?) My advice to those people: use your brains, pay attention to the ratings/warnings, and exercise some judgement. I can't be responsible for a lapse in one's decision-making ability and should not be held accountable for it.
As for the women being insensitive toward other women: You have to admit, a lot of women at times have a tendency to be catty toward each other. I have seen it a lot, especially at clubs. That's the nature of the world. I accept it and move on.
All in all, you raise some good points, but I sincerely hope that I have at least given some hope that only some (and not most or all) men fall into the categories that you have described.
Calm and rational discussion is the key...
Now I'm gonna turn back into my normal self... and have fun again...

after reading the threads about the pregnant young lady going to prom and posting her picture, i'd most definitely have to agree with kragshot...some women on here have a serious problem with regards to other women...and then they wonder why men talk shyt about them - well, they probably learned it from their mothers, how about that?
sorry, but they went all off the deep end talking about kicking their daughter out if she was pregnant at a young age and how disgraceful and disrespectful she was to get pregnant, as if the worst thing she could do WAS get pregnant...hell, at least she graduate from high school and did not get aids...had she contracted hiv, i wonder how quick they would be to kick her out then - maybe we'd see them lobbying for cheaper medication in d.c.

I have to agree with Kragshot and DJ OPM, and at the same time contrast all the seriousness with a little humor.
Do you know how tough it is being a man...?
If you put a woman on a pedestal and try to protect her from the rat race,
you're a male chauvinist.
If you stay home and do the housework,
you're a pansy.
If you work too hard
there is never any time for her.
If you don't work enough,
you're a good-for-nothing bum.
If she has a boring repetitive job with low pay,
this is exploitation.

Discogoddess,
You know you are my girl, but why the sensitivity? So much that is said here is said jokingly, based off of feelings at the time (be it anger, heartache, or defensiveness).
I really think you misunderstand some of the things written here or take them too seriously.
I myself have started topics on this board to solicit opinions, blow off some steam, gain understanding, or to put a smile on someones face.
You all are my brothers and sisters and I would hate for anyone here to get offended to the point that when we see each other, we get an attitude with one another.
As Krag said, if GMan thought what was written here was too offensive or hurtful, he would put the kibosh on the topic and it's writer.

sorry, but they went all off the deep end talking about kicking their daughter out if she was pregnant at a young age and how disgraceful and disrespectful she was to get pregnant, as if the worst thing she could do WAS get pregnant...hell, at least she graduate from high school and did not get aids...had she contracted hiv, i wonder how quick they would be to kick her out then - maybe we'd see them lobbying for cheaper medication in d.c.
the shyt kills me...the nerve of some women... Wait Sistah X...it's important to know that the picture came as a discussion...and I posted that prior to posting the pic...actually, I took the picture down but time after time was requested to repost it...The topic came to DHP from another message board and on that message board as well it was a heated topic...
I too love my sistah's very much, and it's important to know that the picture would have gotten the same reaction from me regardless of the color of the girl wearing the dress. As far as I'm concerned it wasn't a racial issue but more so an issue about the dress that the young lady was wearing. Everyone else made it racial. The topic with the picture was a totally different topic from would you let your pregnant daughter go to the prom. What does my response to that question have to do with me berating Black women? Absolutely Nothing...my response to letting my pregnant daughter go to the prom was strictly that of me being a parent. Shit, I even said if my son got a girl pregnant he wouldn't be going to the prom either.
So I guess I'm totally missing your point on this and that topic. I'm not understanding how I'm all God almighty because of my opinion.
nothing but love sistah...

Shit I could go into a hair salon on 79th street and hear women talk all kinds of bogus shit about men.. so what... men are different than women. Unless we are being all PC and shit men think and say all types of shit. Either you want the real truth like it or not or you want us to only say what you want to hear. You can't have it both ways. Some are cool and some are not on both sides of the gender gap. You got a wide range of men here that all don't think the same so when someone says stuff that you think is bogus maybe you should call them out instead of making these generalizations about men. Either you like us or you don't. This is why we don't want to take our girls with us when we go and play basketball and stuff.. we can let our hair down so to speak and just be guys. If you heard half the stuff that we say when we are just with the guys you'd probably be shocked and vice versa when women get together. Y'all be talking about dick sizes, how broke some of us are, how you cheat and do all of the stuff that you wouldn't want us to know. How you manipulate guys into getting what you want. Generalizations do noone any good. I stand by every word that I say but it's funny how you can say one thing and it gets all turned around. You loves us brothers to death one day and talk about us in a negative light the next. Only one brother said anything bout a female DJ needing to be fine. And if you don't pleasure your woman when she wants it someone else will...take too long and see what happens. (Generalization). Anybody is stupid for being in a bad relationship(real). What straight man cares about how a male DJ looks.. none. Only one cat made the statement about if a girl puts out early he loses interest. Come on now. Call out the peeps that posted whatever is a contradiction to you.

Another observation:
ON ONE HAND:
A woman is too serious, sensitive or judgemental for pointing out and asking for comments re: some of the seemingly contradictory statements some men have made on the DHP....
ON THE OTHER:
A man can rant, rave, joke, pontificate or froth at the mouth about whatever subject on DHP, and isn't viewed as serious, sensitive or judgemental...

Because I feel like I am being targeted when someone says some men on DHP. Some of the topics that I've posted or comments that I've made here have been seriously misread and don't know if you are referring to me or not so I want to make my stance clear. And the whole men vs. women thing sucks to me. Some people here are just a bit too damn sensitive ALL the time. Judging by the take it with a grain of salt comments from many I guess I am exceptional in that if I post it I mean it. I look at "jokes" and recognize that they are an important tool of the programmers. They are sly little ways of keeping our thoughts and our behaviors within the paramaters of the lowest common standard that serve the powers that be. Think about that next time you feel moved to tell that joke that demeans or humiliates.
Maybe I do live in a rarefied world, but I must say that I have really been surprised and on several occasions moved towards deep despair by stuff I have read on this page that I really thought we had moved beyond. Reading the "joking" posts of men on this page and I'll go there, Black men in particular, has been disheartening to me as a Black woman. I must add that sometimes the sisters have left me scratching my head too by cosigning on some of the nonsense. The racial dynamic figures in this discussion for me because lots of energy is spent by Black folks talking about why we remain socially and economically oppressed. And while lots of folks recognize that the considerable tension between Black women and Black men is a distraction and impediment to our collective liberation we still seem stuck in a cycle of useless finger pointing. I am troubled that I almost never see folks stepping outside of the expected lines and moving towards adopting the position that they will not only not let their living be circumscribed by the expectations reflected by the stereotypes we feed with bad behavior, but that they will challenge the folks around them to clean their shit up too. There is a whole lot of deeply internalized patriarchal nonsense floating about on DHP and I guess in the world outside of my artsy-hippy-disco cocoon. I have learned not to look into LOTS of threads and save myself the upset.

I have seen moments, especially from the Freaky Friday posts (which I rarely participate) when the "ladies of the DHP" go along with the fun and then, when the conversation in the other days of the week turn serious, the jokes they previously enjoyed in an adult context become evidence against the male poster.
C'man DiscoGoddess - I thought this sisters of the struggle, women banding together shit went out with the asymmetric cut with the gold spray on the side and fat Oprah. We're all grown folks here, doing our thing. Someone posts an offensive slur - they get banned. Someone attacks a lady, the post is closed. Someone posts a picture, you can count on folks like MHD, myself, JMJ (sometimes ;) ) and many others to scream bloody murder.
In my observation, your perception has been all black and white since we all disagreed with you on the whole Prom Pregnancy thing.

I'm not so sure that you've read ANYTHING else I've written here on DHP, besides the prom pregancy thread, to be forming such an opinion of me.
It's really amazing to me that you would say in one breath that I am stringing together a bunch of unrelated things and making conclusions (as you noted below in your response to Ashaki), when you seem to be doing the same thing in your assumptions about me, love.
And, what does "sisters in the struggle" have to do with anything? Did I ask for anyone to co-sign on my observations or opinions? A "yeah, girl!" or anything? What does Freaky Friday or people being serious and joking in different threads have to do with what I've posted? graemlins/conf44.gif </font>[/QUOTE]I'm thinking that you are suppose to not participate in Freaky Friday posts if you participate in posts regarding race and economic issues...if you do, you will be looked upon differently...you will leave people guessing about you, somebody somewhere will be trying to figure you out...I just don't get it....how I am less of this and more of that depending on which threads I do or don't post in...I don't get it....

How asinine is it to title a post "MEN: Make up yer mudda friggin minds, already", but it isn't until a few posts into it doesn't imply ALL men.
Discogoddess can post this, but Mark B titled his topic "Women are stupid" and Discogoddess was the first to swoop in on Mark's "sweeping generalization".
There are about four or five of you who cluster together and defend each other without rational thought and flame anyone who disagrees with you without true discourse. That's some closed minded shit and I can't see how it is healthy in the least bit.

And, as for the title...sorry...I'll change it to "Some Men..." would that make it better? And, for the record, the VERY FIRST SENTENCE OF THE FIRST POST states that I am referring to many men, not all.
I won't touch your cabal theory...cuz I don't know what the fugg you're talking about.

that - my love - is sweet...as far as anyone "clustering", i've nothing to say about that because i believe anyone and everyone can agree to anything they want and if the belief's popular, so be it...

If you think men are stupid now, wait until you get one that is going threw Mid-life Crisis. Now that I have been there and done that - I clearly see that I was trippin (According to my wife).
The "I still got it" & trying hard to prove it syndrome = Mid-life crisis.

@Rickey: Thanks for the clarification. Of course, we are all free to agree, disagree, whatever we want on here...
As for BoldSoul's statement, I respectfully submit, for about the fifthtime, that from the first line in my first post, I stated that many men on DHP were wishy washy. Never did I say most or all. I don't think that qualifies as a sweeping generalization. I didn't realize that I needed to qualify the thread title to the level of saying: "SOME MEN: Make up your mudda friggin minds, already..."
But I guess that doesn't matter, since apparently BoldSoul, by his own admission, has already decided that I am "black and white" in my perceptions, and am perhaps carrying some sort of chip on my shoulder since people disagreed with me back on the prom pregnancy thread. Any response I have that contradicts his assumptions about me gets ignored.
So, I graemlins/conf44.gif and graemlins/conf44.gif again, knowing that, for me, this topic is now beaten to death.
@Lil Ray: hopefully you'll get your wish and this thread will sink...

Okay, I'll admit that I thought that you were writing to blow off some steam...but the only reason was because I had just previously read your responses to Buddy Love's post, "Women Are Stupid." Some of your responses were pretty heated.
If you were just being introspective with your post, then I apologize for that perception...but I do mean everything that I wrote.
And for that matter, women rant and rave all the time on this board and we read what they say.
It's just that nobody rants on this board like good ol' Buddy Love...he's a tough act to follow....
