How does this work? Does Gman go through the membership list and invite his Chosen favorites or is it open to all members who care to participate? Some of us out of towners would like to know to start making plans. Anyone?

For the sake of accuracy and clarification, LRR and JMJ story was correct; the police presence did get heated after the kid wandered out into the street because my wife and her friend were standing right there when it happened. The woman cop started screaming at them because she thought it was their child. THAT'S WHEN SHIT GOT GRIMY.
Two main incidents contributed to the police presence as well. First, the parking lot has always been trouble because people double park and block those who came in early in those parking spaces. Therefore, later in the evening, the jock has to make 500 anouncements telling people to move their cars. Last year, whomever was on the tables kept saying that 5-0 was going to shut it down if people didn't move their cars. I would as an immediate suggestion keep that parking lot closed all day and let every body park on Stony Island. So, if you come early as Wynell and I did last year, you should probably unload and just move your car onto the street.
Secondly, people got really silly and started to park on the grass and the main street (Hayes Dr.?)
Once again, repeated announcements telling everyone to move. So, those are factors that WE can control. Plus, some idiot did throw bottles and shit at the police. Dumb move considering there were kids outside. I'm not making excuses for the police because they overdid it with the sirens, but given the world we live in today, we gotta be a little bit smarter and sophisticated.
I'm just thinking aloud because up into the last 1/2 hour, the picnic was a rousing success as always. This was the first time in recent memory that the police broke fool in that manner that manner.
I have every confidence in AK and Chosen Few in that if they say its gonna be straight, then that's the way its gonna be.
MHD, get yer ass to the crib for the festivities, dude.

Security at the West lot gate had it blocked off and security were only letting in essential vehicals IE: People with the DJ & Sound crew. Batman was being turned around after I was let in the lot to off load my grill etc, I told Andre the he {Batman} was with the DJ crew, he was then allowed to park in the lot.
The fire lanes were not the issue as of why the police came out in force.
A lost child wandered off the curb and was just caught by a woman who was uploading a SUV, the only vehical in that lane at the time was a Chicago Police vehical. The Female officer picked up the child and attempted to find the parent. She was pissed off which is understandable, had the woman not grabbed the child, that little girl would had been run over by that squad car, E-PHI will verify that.
The whole event occured right in-front os JMJ, Ms. V-Rod, E-PHI (who was the closest to the street) & I.
Nobody is calling you a lie, thoughs of us that were at the scene at the time of the incident are giving a true account of what happened.
As a matter of fact I said to JMJ "Ooh that Police Woman is pissed! we better start packing because the party is over"
The Police rolled in like a swat team, putting on leather gloves, twirling nightsticks, blinding people with high intensity lights and generally being butt-heads.
The only reason our group did not get herrassed is, we had a camcorder running.

If Andre was the guy in the Yellow jacket and the dreds. He was the guy who told me to pull in the lot. The Police Sargent was the one who refused to let me in.
The Fire lanes did get blocked that is why the additional police was called. This was before the "child" incident..... they had planned on shutting you guys down before the kid almost got hit. That incident just added fuel to the fire........

Bingo! The parking lot issue is always a problem, and before last year it was the only problem in 10 years of this event. We are still working through that for this year, but I will post what the deal is as the event approaches.
I have spoken to the alderman--Leslie Hairston, who's a good friend--and the police commander for the area, and here's the real deal on last year. A week or so before our event there was a "Thong Fest" held in Jackson Park. And surprise, surprise, there were some shooting incidents. Ald. Hairston and the police commander (both black and outspoken) caught some flack because of it, and that was the reason for the "crack down" on our event. Leslie didn't know I was involved in the event, as I had never thought to call her because we never had drama before. Leslie and the police commander have pledged to "protect" our event this year, and to even help with security and parking. More details when I get them.

E-PHI, JMJ, Ms. V-Rod, Part Sixx, Serge, and the other adults in our area that were no more that 30 feet away from the incident all saw the same thing.........you pop on here and go by what another one of you inside sources said.
If 30 people say a car is Blue but your inside source say it was a Red car, you will go all out to prove the car was Red.
Recieving false info consist of being told about what happened, I saw what happend (Emphisis on Saw) we as a group imagined the whole thing, 75 people eyes lied to them I guess.

My contact gives me info not favors....Was Andre the guy in the yellow jacket? The conversation with the Person in the yellow Jacket(i'm assuming its Andre) told me alot of what went down. and the police verified it. and the museum said the same........

You drop names of people like they are right in your pocket but it make you look like a coat tailer (hanging on to someone that may get you somewhere)

Thanks for the info. I think I need a tour guide. Don't know if I will drive or fly at this point. Is it easy enough to cab from the park to the parties or is everything all spread out? Any good hotels in the general area? Any trips appreciated.

Any good hotels in the general area? Any trips appreciated. Good luck catching a cab. Best thing to do is hook up with someone from the board that can show you around. There will be alot going on that weekend and the cab ain't gonna cut it. You could probably rent a car cheaper than taking a cab around Chicago. Hotels downtown will be at a premium that weekend ($$$$). Cost-wise, your best bet is to stay somewhere south. You may even want to consider staying just across the border in NW Indiana. Rooms are cheaper, you're only 20 minutes from downtown, and casinos are 5-10 minutes away. Trump and Harrah's have their own hotels, and I believe they provide shuttle service to the city......JMJ

Make sure you have a car, cab fare can get pretty expensive from one side of town to the other.

What about hotels near the airport? Rates in that area look a little lower. Would that be closer than NW Indiana?

The Reconstrucion of Lake Shore Drive from Mc Cormick to 67th Street should be done by then........Its a mess over there now(by the museum)...........
Side note: The "famous" over pass where you could look at bikinied women and hot bodied men by the museum stop light is gone. They made it going under lakeshore drive. Its the same way at the Jackson Harbor Grill.......

Also forgot to mention, plans for two very special guest DJs--one at the July 3rd party and one at the July 5th picnic--are in the works. Stay tuned!
