View Full Version : THE ASS KISSING MUST STOP NOW!!

JMJ
12-01-2003, 10:09 AM
Good morning everybody. Kissing women's asses to keep them posting on DHP must stop. While I don't want to see the women leave, neutering every man on DHP isn't the answer, and that's exactly what's happening. "Watch your p's and q's or there will be nothing but men posting on the board....." If the previous statement fits you, GET THE FUCK OUT!! We all should take some responsibilty for what we say and do, but it seems like every time the women have a problem with something posted by a man, the threat to leave the board comes up. LADIES - IF YOU AREN'T HAPPY HERE, PLEASE LEAVE. Yes, you'll be missed, but isn't your happiness more important?? Be happy. I have spoken.....JMJ smile.gif

Newbie Confusion ....

Where did that come from? Are you telling me you are catching feelings about what is said on a message board JMJ???? I have seen you post some profound posts... but neutering men??? online???
Everyone has opinions, some are favorable some arent... but when people post topics specifically drawing lines in the sands of the "battle of the sexes" what do you expect to get...

Women voiceing their opinions about men and Men voicing theirs about women...

I rather see you guys be yourself... just don't start calling women sluts and hoes when they post the same shyt you do.. and I wont have to kick ur assets :D ;)

Toughen up sheeesh graemlins/slap.gif This isn't about me or my feelings. This is about what I've been reading here lately. While the portrayal of women as slut's, ho's, and lord knows what else is WRONG, I'm not kissing anybody's ass to stay here, unlike some of my fellow DHP men. Stay because YOU want to, not because I'm telling you that you're the greatest thing since Viagra. Life isn't fair, both men and women are flawed, we love each other, but haven't learned to LIKE one another. Men are cave dwellers, women have feelings, LET'S DEAL WITH IT! The women here know what they're dealing with, and it's not going to change overnight, nor is it THAT serious.......JMJ ;)

*chuckle* @ Myor ....

I don't think JMJ would have to even make that type of statement if females who come here do so to discuss the love of Music. Seems to me that you dont have to kiss ass if you are engaging people here as peers instead of possible booty call hookups ???

Shit Imma House Head, I know my shit and I want to learn more, There is no better place to do that than here ...DHP. Shit dont kiss my azz respect me and I'll repect you... I will only neuter a guy if he asks .... I heard that twigs and berries and get in the way when walking!! LOL graemlins/rofl.gif

JMJ - why did you had an issue with the title of the VIRGIN vs. EX-PROSITUTE thread? You thought it could have been worded differently out of RESPECT for the women on DHP... Isn't this a form of ass kissing...? or a way of respecting the few women left on DHP...?

Just joke JMJ... * looking @ calendar to schedule JMJ for neutering* Nobody's checked me on anything. I defended some of the women last week when the shit got ugly. I know right from wrong, and won't hesitate to call somebody on it. Check your facts before making such a statement again. This topic is directed to the ass-kissing men as well as the terminally unhappy women that bitch but continue to post. Again, get your facts straight before proceeding with me.......JMJ

Again I dont have to check facts ... this is not a fact based conversation. Pure conjucture and interpretation. And arent you the one who said it wasnt that serious. I think the women who come here and side step the bullshit dont need their azzes kiss'd, their purpose for being here is quite the antithesis of a topic that would require such bullshit!

People take themselves a bit toooo seriously here.
Question?
Why would you have to stand up for women here... I mean its admirable but why give that nonsense any NRG. Isnt G-Man the admin anyway? wouldnt he determine what is or isnt appropo?

And if your having disscussions about music and and relative dialog, calling me a bitch or a ho' wouldn't have a place in those topics, now would they?

What do u consider azz-kissing or loathsome man bashing ...and If you are only dealing with quality folks... Y do care. like I said I have seen some profound posts from you ... Im a lil perplex'd with this one...

I haven't seen it here... I guest I cause I dont participate in non-music oriented topics....This is the first one.

so is the choice like this?

a) stop respecting women, diss them and their opinions as stupid, generalize them only as "bitches", mock them at every chance and disregard anything they say to not look like a "punk" in front of the other DHP men.

or

b) respect all the ladies (even when joking), listen to what they have to say, understand that when they check me-they are not disrespecting me, they are just asking me to respect them and have it be win-win for everyone.

If these are the choices, I will gladly kiss butt. I like all the guys here but I love women. I'd rather hang in a room full of lovely ladies having a convo than sitting on the DHP couch lonely with a bunch of guys punching each other yelling "my point is right! wemmen are stoopid"

Just my two cents. graemlins/cool_shades.gif

JMJ is 1000% right..there is a certain element of no ass getting weasels that always try to stay extra pc about everything all the time in order to placate hysteria

No quarter given and none asked i say - if women wanna drive the big rigs they have to deal with a certain amount of testosterone ( although nekkid pics and outright vileness is over the line)

I post more personal business, relationship/sexual exploits and baby mama drama on DHP than anyone... Not in the hopes of making some anonymous women in the DHP universe that I will never meet fawn over me... I do it because that is who I am... But I do it in a way that is respectful to those women that may read it... Like I said there is a difference between ass kissing and being respectful and some us can't seem separate the two...

For the record I agree that the "ass-kissing" is pointless even when it is well-intentioned. It bugs me because it seems like it is trying to placate and pacify and I wish that sometimes the community could be more serious about engaging in dialogue that might actually expand everyone's understanding. I am not interested in neutering or silencing anyone and I am continually mystified by folks acting like they have a hatchet coming at their mid-sections or tongues when they are asked a hard question or to clarify a position.

What is deepest to me is the ways in which serious discussion is often charactarized. "Political Correctness" is invoked at the oddest moments, seemingly whenever someone doesn't want to acknowledge that her/his post has been ill-considered, poorly reasoned or patently offensive. What is deep is that if one really wanted to attempt a credible usage of the odious term it might most appropriately directed at the posts that seem designed to constrain dialogue instead of at the posts that spark dialogue. I also don't know who the "terminally unhappy women that bitch but continue to post," are. Who are they? I have been around DHP for a pretty long while and have had periods of extended silence born of frustration with the tone of many of the posts on the board and I have tried to engage folks in serious discussions on uncomfortable topics including patriarchy, race, sexism and cultural imperialism and mayhaps have challenged them to look beyonnd their present understanding and/or move me beyond mine but I have never been about idle bitching. I have seen some really bright women leave the community in disgust after some pretty dark moments but while I don't recall their bitching, I do mourn their leaving.

I know I tend to be on the more serious end of the continuum of posters in this community and I make no apologies for this. It reflects the part of myself that is interested in understaning others and being understood. I dig dialogue. I get that lots of folks say thing in ostensible jest; however, I also get that lots of the time derisive humor is a tool used to maintain social control as no one really wants to the butt of the joke. A great example of this is the FMK "joke" which sends the thinly veiled message that women would want to conform to a limited range of behavior or they will miss the brass ring of M and be left either with the booby prize and implied humiliation of F or the extermination of K. I ignore many posts (including vitually all of Albert Diaz's which I know are usually jokes that I won't find funny) but the overt violence with a gendered overtone in light of my friend's murder by her husband compelled a response.

The bottom line is that the women here aren't looking for gestures or pedestals which is basically what we get when folks post these I love the women threads and absolve themselves of responsibility to dialogue respectfully (NOT deferentially) and honestly with EVERYONE present.

Question?
Why would you have to stand up for women here... I mean its admirable but why give that nonsense any NRG. Isnt G-Man the admin anyway? wouldnt he determine what is or isnt appropo?
I would stand up for any of my family or friends wouldn't you?

I don't understand how hard it is to be considerate to others.
Example:
What if you had some tragedy happen in you life like you mother fell off a bridge you wouldn't want to come to the board and read a thread with Bridge jokes now would you. Grow up!

Speak to me like you would speak to your Father, Grandfather or brothers. Speak to the women here like you would speak to your Mother, Grandmother or sisters.

Yes G-man is the Admin of the board but do you really think he has time to baby sit?

He does not get paid to do this site! I think he should start charging dues on this site and then maybe he'll have some respectable clients!

To all the men on the board: Do you know that there is a difference between way you talk to a man than a woman. If you don't know this you have a lot to learn!

I’m not kissing nobodies ass to gain any popularity around here.
Let just stick to the title of this site and we'll all be better off!

Porter, I agree with your last part of your statement. However, You took only a "slither" of what I was speaking of and misinterpreted what I was communicating.

and if ANYONE comes here looking for emotional support from a message board then that is just plain sad! If I perhaps bonded with someone here then yes I would want comfort from them, but thats one on one communication not message board material. And that is also MY perspective. I view DHP as an environment for infomation about music and about the people who share a like interest.

And if you had kept track of the entire convo then you would know my comment about Gman being the admin was not to slight him... I was addressing JMJ&gt;

Shalewa,

What I perceive from rabid anti-p.c. bandwagoneers and the proliferation of retrograde posts/threads is an increasing number of folks whom are completely disinterested in dialogue. I find it highly unlikely that Albert D and his motley crew of cheerleaders---with regards to that brazenly dubious "marry/fuck/kill" thread--- have learned anything from the exchange and it's aftermath; it's becoming painly obvious that, for quasi-enlightened (under the guise of "a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing") peeps on board, an ornery woman---and her emasculated minions---needs to be allegorically popped in the mouth.

Thank you for posting on this, btw. Your insight is priceless.

I'm hoping that today's DHP cognoscenti won't take this as just another kick in the nuts.

Demanding decency IS NOT "ass kissing." Most of the threads that contain the "there won't be any women left" statements are threads that desrve to be criticized. There are days when multiple sexist threads run on the front page all day. That shit is wrong. The result will be (and has been) that women leave. Hopefully, people continue to criticize these threads, as it keeps the testosterone at bay, a little.

Saying that those who protest such bullshit are kissing ass is kind of generalizing (though there is certainly plenty of of bullshit ass kissing too).

Just as I applaud those who speak out against racism here, I applaud those who are willing to criticize sexists, even if it makes them unpopular with more machismo element.

Once you got to the part about why should we defend the women here on the board and isn't G-man the admin I said to myself where does he want to be, I mean does he want to be on the left or does he want to be on the right?
The slither that I quoted was the most important in your reply because you touched on parts that I needed to express not only to you but the board as a whole. We are addressing this issue, as a whole right so don't take it personal.
If the shoe fits wear it and walk a mile. graemlins/cool_shades.gif

Yeah, now you say if people come here and look for emotional support then that’s sad, Man you need to retract what you writing because the entire issue at hand is about being considerate.
Emotional support can come from so many topics on this board, Like: How do you feel about Track Blah that just came out or what about blah equipment. I have even seen a thread that some one posted about his or her relationship went sour but you know what It was positive and the entire board supported emotionally. I don’t think that is sad at all. In all actuality it helped the person to better deal with their situation. Now that’s what a friends or family can do for you.
That is the perspective view of how the DHP as an environment that shares information about MUSIC and liked INTEREST!
Again you’re trying to play two sides.

OOOH KAYYYYY
Umm Porter Im very aware of the beginning of the thread..YOU are the one who bought emotionalism into this quagmeyrer LOL got mamas jumpin' off of bridges and shit and then want sympathy from a msg board. moving fwd.

Im not straddling the fence at all *rather uncomfortable!* I say now and I have said previously that WE *females* dont come here to be suck'd up to... and it I dont see it being and issue if you are utilzing this site for what it was created for the exchange of ideas, information, and resources regarding music...specifically Underground Music *correct me if Im wrong* I can't imagine such emotional outburst when the topic isnt applicable.
And for my "sistahs" here on DHP those who are clear about their own purpose here dont' need men kissing their azzes. Seems to me when topics are discussed honestly and maturely, even the jokes...
there is no room for disrespect, no reason to call women out of their names, no reason for people to kiss azzes.
Like I said, Only a hit dog yelps. Seems to me, sistahs get disrespected when menz baby feelings get hurt and can't take honest assessments... for that fact its not just a Man to Women issue.

If you can't take criticism then bounce...

I don't understand how hard it is to be considerate to others.
Example:
What if you had some tragedy happen in you life like you mother fell off a bridge you wouldn't want to come to the board and read a thread with Bridge jokes now would you. Grow up!
Honestly the person that would have to grow up is the person who is getting mad b/c of the joke.. We have no Idea what is going on in your life.. so don't come ripping off my head b/c ur mom just leaped of a bridge and I put a joke about someone leaping off a bridge.. </font>
Ok Myor I am sorry! You’re absolutely right with your point.

I really meant to throw in that the board already knew the mother jumped off the bridge.

Just trying to make a point about being considerate that’s all. graemlins/cool_shades.gif

Will you ever forgive me! hail.gif

It takes a mindreader to know whether an inocuous joke about jumping off a bridge will offend; it takes nothing more than good, old-fashioned common sense to realize that jokes based on "Which woman would you..." or "What do Puerto Ricans have in common with..." are going to offend someone.

Read the part above my last reply. That is your writing noe mine.
Again I touch parts of what you said because they were important.
Like say it another way: You started off different then the way you ended in one of your first replies.
Again, I'm not saying your wrong Im saying top me you seem to have played both sides of the fence.
Hold on let me get the entire post so we can get this together.

And if your having disscussions about music and and relative dialog, calling me a bitch or a ho' wouldn't have a place in those topics, now would they?

too dayum sensitive here...
Brothas be having heavy flow dayz, needing Midol and shit!!
No one can take a joke LOL LOL graemlins/conf44.gif aaaahhhh, Now I know why I only quoted a Slither of your post!
Its because the first part was toward JMJ?
I had no comment.

The middle part that I quoted was a question you asked.
I answered the question and added information that was not only directed at you but for the all the readers of this thread.

The ending of your post was right on target so I had no comment.
Again, I am not trying to make a point about be considerate to others which like I said its not only directed to you but for every one.

One more time:
If the shoe fits wear it and walk a mile.

Another time. No pun intended! graemlins/cool_shades.gif

You and Myor are right. I take it that you replied as I quoted Myor..

Of course you would have to be a mind reader to know what happen in some ones life.

I agree with JMJ!

There are people who kiis ass inorder to get a hook up with a female's here for everything from attending an event / other agendas.

Doing that via a message board is a poor display of social skills IMO.

As for myself...I am not double jointed IE: I Can't Kiss My Own Ass, so kissing the ass of another will not happen.

I guess when you're a man that don't have to look far to find / go all out ones way so women like them - that give me the option to not kiss female ass.

That takes me to a new thread to post.

The women here know what they're dealing with, and it's not going to change overnight, nor is it THAT serious.......JMJ ;) </font>
Excellent Point J!

It's all good girls.. y'all know I love you ;) .
