From Robert Feder's article from Fridays paper:
If all goes as planned, Crawford Broadcasting will kick off a 37-hour radio stunt at 1 a.m. Monday that will set the stage for the debut of its new adult urban-contemporary station on WYCA-FM (106.3).
Taft Harris, general manager of Crawford's Chicago operations, said the stunt -- one song that will be played over and over again -- "will tell the world perfectly who we are and who we're going after."
While the audience target of the station will be African-American adults between the ages of 25 and 54, the competitive target will be Clear Channel Communications' adult urban WVAZ-FM (102.7) and "smooth jazz" WNUA-FM (95.5), Harris said.
One change since Crawford first disclosed plans for the station is that its slogan will be "Soul 106.3" rather than "The Groove."
After launching at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the station will air commercial-free and announcer-free for at least 45 days.
Crawford also owns WPWX-FM (92.3), urban-contemporary competitor to Clear Channel's WGCI-FM (107.5).
They have a STRONG signal- from Kankakee(south) to Rockford(northwest) including Downtown Chicago)
The Radio war starts THIS WEEK!!!!!!!
