Greetings: your idol, Buddy Love

Ah, ......again, it's the DHP "psychic message board"

;)

I see that we are somewhat on the same wave length. I am waiting to see who will be the first DJ to spin at Club Baghdad aka Club Badhdad.

Let's see if the "Peace will be won," after "non peaceful means" were used.

Oh yes.

Let's welcome Iraqi's to American-style democracy!

A brand new puppet ruler, appointed by and friendly to American corporations, not the Iraqi people. (Just like our own politicians!)

McDonald's, Wal-marts, Starbucks, Citibank...the wholesale homogenization and elimination of their culture. (Just like our culture!)

Cell phones, computers, internet and other commodities that will consume their time and make them ambivalent to participating in society and impede their ability to actively critique their government. (Just like our civic mindedness!)

The wholesale extraction and exploitation of their natural resource (oil) and the economic marginalization of Iraqi society to Oil rich magnates & devastatingly poor service workers. (Just like our society!)

Welcome, Iraq. You have been "liberated".

Thank you Ray.....the food was wonderful as always. It takes many components to make a good party, and food is one of them.

Welcome, Iraq. You have been "liberated". But you sure do love living here don't ya? What is the "American style" of living? Is it White? Can't one stay true and know their roots, yet live the "American style" of living? Better give up your computer, cell phone, internet, McDonalds, Walmart, Starbucks and Citibank so you can become that truly liberated and un-oppressed person that the US is keeping you from being. If anything, it just sounds to me like many people just wanna have their cake and eat it too, yet, I see nothing being done to MAKE THAT CHANGE.

But I don't shop at Walmart, McDonald's or Starbucks, and I don't bank at Citibank.

I go to Marshall's, I drink coffee at local-run cafe's, and I bank at locally run banks. I support communities, not multibillion dollar corporations.

I participate in the democratic process by voting and working elections to elect progressive candidates who represent the people, not Republicrats & Demublicans who work for corporations.

I'm gonna take a pay cut to become a teacher and teach children war no more and to become active, participating and conscience citizen, not consuming sheep.

[/QB]al, i don't understand what one (i.e. being part of the american way of life) has to do with the other (i.e. criticizing the methods by which that way of life is being forced on other people under the guise of a purely american notion of liberty) in your line of argument. This kind of reasoning continues to defeat me.

It’s funny - 18 months ago some people went out of their way to live up to that guise and succeeded in leading the american way of life ad absurdum. The ensuing disaster was catalyzed by one-dimensional thinking and a lacking imagination. All of you didn’t see sh*t coming because you couldn’t think it.

Parents, the community, children and policy makers need to be involved in the process.

A "Teacher" that is willing to teach anyone to "read" is obviouly leading you to a path in which you will be able to "Think" about what you are reading. Now what you do with this right or privalige is up to you.

peace,

AD Great. This means you can have your cake and eat it too, as well.

These are the things that make this country great: citizens participating in civic activities to make the "American way of life" dynamic .

But try asking our government officials to support your efforts in maintaining or raising the standards of living in your community and for your family.

"Ummm...we don't have money for that in our budget.", what most will tell you.

Now if you are a defense or oil company CEO and wanna corner the global market on oil....

"Here's $35 billion in cold, hard American cash, 250,000 poor rural white, black and latino boys and girls to fight for it, and the best propaganda machine to promote it!"

Last year, here in Chicago, we had to have a hunger strike to have them build us a school in Little Village (a working class Latino neighborhood) that was promised to us by the city 12 years ago.

Now that we "liberated" the Iraqi's, we are about to commit another 35-70 billion to rebuild it.

Priorities, priorities.... graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

Priorities, priorities.... graemlins/jpshakehead.gif [/QB]if i have my information correct, only 2 to 3 billion $ is gonna be alloted for reconstruction purposes. Of the 75 billion $ that's reserved, the huge majority is just to pay troops ..In fact, most of that money is being directed towards the US again : wages, American firms that work in Iraq with contracts, arms & army material, rockets, ... So, it's not correct to think all the money goes to the Iraqi's.. I would be happy if that would be the case..

Then again, i concurr that the US has a problem with priorities.

before you choke in laughter : i didn't mean for wages.. I meant paying expenses of the army as a whole. Wages indeed is only a small part of it. .Even Belgian soldiers get far better paid then US soldiers..
