All the hoop fans know about the St. Bonaventure players quitting, after the team had to forfeit 10 wins this season for allowing Jamil Terrell, an academically inelligible player. And yes, the resignation of the players for the remaiing games has put the entire Atlantic 10 Tournament in disarray. And Jay Bilas of ESPN wants to revoke the players' scholarships.

But here's the problem I have. Yes, I think the players should have played out the games. However, why are they the only ones getting the bad ink and not the administration? Do y'all know that Jamil Terrell was personally admitted by the school president? Rarely does a school president get involved in academic decisions, unless there are final appeals to his office.

This is a straight up Death Penalty case. The school's basketball program should be shut down for at least two years, and the entire administration on down to the coaching staff (yes, I know Jan van Breda Kolf played with the Nets) should be fired. Peace.

they could have still played and just taken their lumps as a team.

to win, the adults cheated and the players ended up getting cheated as well.

the players that haven't cheated (or been caught) shouldn't be punished and at least the scholarship /recruited players don't have to cuz they can readily change schools. (revoking scholarships is just more punishment and i doubt the school would do this especially if school officials let the players do what they wanted)

(i like the fact that the whole A-10 was incensed over the decision to not play cuz i like when people get indignant...)

overall, the idea is that everyone suffers "as a team" and so the players might have gone to too great an exteme in expressing disappointment.

the school and the players are on the same team; they should sit down like the family the school is always purported to be and talk things over. the A-10 sports people will have to punish the school for screwing w/ their money...(college is a business in the US)

if i read correctly, the biggest issue for A-10 NCAA contenders is the forfeited wins only count within the conference though the rating of the teams would effect NCAA tournament rankings.

--and how does mixed-doubles boxing sound? Mike Tyson and Tonya Harding (great couple?) vs. Leila Ali and Lennox Lewis (or Butterbean)?

(ironically, Marques Green of St. Bonaventure is an A-10 player of the week)
