I am having a lot of viruses attacks and ping attacks on my computer. I know that Norton Virus scan is the best anti-virus software out there, and I want to purchase this product. My question is, which is the better software... Norton anti virus 2003, Norton Virus profesional 2003 or internet security.
What I want is a program that cleans my computer of all virus attacks as well as the viruses that are in my computer currently. I want to download the programs from places like Kazza but how trust worthy are the downloads?
I appreciate all the help from all of you computer profesionals out there. I want my computer back to working normally.
Some symptoms:
1. computer constantly freezing while surfing the internet and in regular use.
2. Can't burn any cd's.
3. I also believe that my memory is all used up and I have 256. I don't get it because this computer is 6 months old.
HHHHEEEELLLPPP!!!!!

Peace V-ROD Yo V-ROD, hope I can help you out here!!!!
Firstly I take it you are using some form of protection right now, otherwise wise you wouldn't know about these attacks, if so what you are using seems to be stopping the majority of these things that are happening.
I wouldn't advise downloading noton from Kazaa as you need to register for the automatic updates to kep all your virus definitions uptodate. We use Norton at work and it is pretty good as long as it get updated when there are new virus threats. I use an anti-virus software called PC-Cillin and to be honest I haven't had any problems also I use the free version of Zonealarm firewall software.
When your computer freezes gas it been on for a long time? If so it's maybe overheating or it maybe a faulty harddisk, we got some new PC's at work and within the 1st three months we had to replace some of the drives as they were faulty when made.
What OS are you using?
You can monitor the mount of memory and also processor usage on Win 2000 and I think XP too, this way you will be able to tell if any particular application is using up the memorey.
Sorry can't help you with the burning of CD's .
Hope that is of some help to you.

I am currently using the PC-cillin software as well as Bit Defender software, I believe I have no firewall installed on my computer unless it came with the software I installed. It's possible that my computer can be overheating, but I am not able to tell. My computer freezes after about 20 minutes at times, other times it can stay on for up to an hour and a half then the screen freezes, but the computer is still running by that I mean that I hear the heat sink fan running, but there is still no responces via mouse or keyboard, so I have to restart my computer.
Currently I use window 2000 pro, and I have a cable internet connection. I also removed my memory card from the first slot to the second slot to see if there was any improvement, but it is still the same. I am contemplating buying more memory, either the 256 or the 512. I want to see if I can resolve my problem first before I go buying stuff that I probably don't need. But I still want to buy a trust worthy anti-virus program that will clean my computer and enhance it's performance.
I've been deleting programs that I don't use left and right, I also have been removing useless internet files and cookies to see if I can free up some memory, but still no change. I defragment my hard disk etc. etc. etc.
I am about to go bald if i can't get my computer to work right!!!
Thanks for some of your info Barry, I appreciate it!
