The Tripod page you are trying to reach has exceeded its hourly bandwidth limit. The site will be available again in 4 hours!

From a website dedicated to blaxploitation soundtracks One of the most sought-after of funk soundtracks, this key 1970s score paved the way for many later gritty funk soundtracks. Michael Small's superb soundtrack is haunting, disturbing and groovy by turns, reflecting the harrowing nature of the movie. The original soundtrack release is almost as mysterious as the film; apparently pressed out-of-hours at Warner Brothers, it was 'released' semi-officially and has no track listing or breaks between the tracks on the record. Don't let that put you off - there's so much on here! Two killer psych-funk dancefloor numbers sit next to breaks, samples and assorted oddness to make up an essential purchase. Unreservedly recommended.

Overall Rating: 5

Damn...you guys are talking about my website and I didn't even know it. That clip is from the movie Klute so it's a part of the soundtrack I would assume. I was trying to keep it low key though so I wouldn't get popped for any "infringements."

As the poster message stated, it's a Michael Small production and I have yet to find a soundtrack listing for it.

FYI: I have been researching the history of disco and dance music for a few years and eventually found that a lot of it all traced itself back to David Mancusco and Francis Grasso and the other pioneers of the era. Sadly, Francis passed away before I had a chance to meet him, so the site was a tribute to his generosity. As they say, just passing it on from those who gave so much to me.

Overall Rating: 5 I know the guy that runs this site (Blaxploitation.com). He's called Ed Griffiths and he knows a lot about OSTs. I could ask him for you.

OK, I emailed Ed and here's his reply:

"ok - on to the question. the tune on that MP3 is definitely a Michael
Small original, taken from the Klute soundtrack album. the full version
is about 4 minutes long and is included on that weird Klute soundtrack
that's shown on blaxploitation.com.

if anyone's interested in hearing the full Klute OST LP version of that
track, it's available streamed online in one of my mixes at
soulstrut.com in a set called 'Tokin' with Monte'. the Klute tune starts
at about 1 min 50 secs.

there was also a dodgy bootleg reissue of this LP in the UK on Harkit
about 4 or 5 years back, with a slightly differently-coloured cover to
the original press. i wouldn't plug it personally since the guy who does
those boots isn't someone i have a great deal of time for.

i'll leave it to you to post it back on the board. cheers bill!

all the best
ed"
