You can get pretty good dubby echo/reverb sounds from a variety of boxes. The key is that mixer because it has proper FX sends per channel rather than a loop.

He's using an Allen&Heath at Cielo (I think), but generally he does use the Yamaha... I remember asking him that question another time.

I thought it was my trusty DP2 at first from the look (good warm dub echos for cheap), but the rev sound on that mix is classic Yamaha... sparkly highs.

If tha mixee very old-skool like you still in 1981 and got no sendee, (UREI, Rane, graemlins/sleep2.gif ) then >>>>

Never, ever EVAH use a loop. graemlins/nono.gif

Use one side of a stereo jack splitter from the headphone out to the effect's input and the headphone volume as the send level; then any stereo input on the mixer for the effect out. (Haven't done it the other way since around 1992 and reel-to reel tape machines...)

Thanks Adam Goldstone and 'Departure Lounge' crew for the tip! hail.gif

Dubby sound, it come from box easy...but, must use box with send!! (old Chinese dubverb)

PS: Yes, you can use a Pioneer EFX-500 in a mixer's loop if you want to, but one has to admit that in its current incarnation, it degrades a whole system's sound quality very, very substantially http://deephousepage.com/smilies/Disappointed_anim.gif with effect quality rivaling a 1985 Timex Digital™ watch. (see Mancuso, etc...)

Not to say that I don't occasionally use one when I am playing in a strange place where they swear that nothing else is available.

...but why not take the stereo split from the headphones to the effect unit, rather than mono? (unless the unit is mono-in)

Whatever is easier, I do either depending on the situation. :D

You need Real Audio Player, which I assume you have installed. Dunno... What version of Real Player do you have installed?

Can you play other Real Audio mixes? http://deephousepage.com/smilies/conf40.gif

to be more specific .. coming out of the headphone jack you would use a stereo splitter .. which would be a 1/4" connector that splits to 4 rca (or whatever) connectors? so then another adapter would be necessary to get back to the 1/4" female headphone connection so that you could still use headphones to cue?

just a standard 1/4" stereo male connector split into two stereo 1/4" female connectors. (as if you needed 2 headphones) then you take it from there, depending on what you are trying to connect... ;)

This is how I'm currently setup with my line 6 echo stomp box....it's fun to set the echo all crazy(lots of feedback) but have nothing going to it....then just tap or hold down the cue for a second and have like one beat or horn stab or whatever just ring out all crazy style...

FK, love the mix man...you're doing you thing!
