Just picked up an LP by Peter Gordon for a quid in a second hand shop and it has a track called "That Hat" which is written and sung by Arthur Russell - it's really good! Bargain!

I need to start hunting properly. At what point did you stop saying ok I'll pay whatever it takes, and start hunting? Do you still pay top dollar for top goods, or do you just know you can find it for less?

A few years ago I stopped following house music and started buying music I liked not music that is upfront (although if I like something new I'll buy it but I hardly bother will 'new' record shops much). I haven't paid more than a tenner for a record in a long time - mostly a fiver or less.

quit your job. unemployment a) gives you more time to dig; and b) hones that digging instinct because you have no money. being skint means you can't just go online / to oyur dealer and pick up what you want, you've got to hunt it down.

Last week's best find - chantal curtis - hit man 12" (£4)

i hear there may be an edit of that peter gordon track coming out soon jo...

Like Matthew, I agree that quitting your job is the perfect way to build up a great second hand record collection. Haha.

Wish I could quit my job and dig for music and make new music all day long...

FYI, I am listening to Mr. Lif's "Live At The Plantation" at work right now. Solid hip-hop with lyrics that actually mean something.
