View Full Version : Dude, I Got A Dell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just fired up my new Dell computer!!! I finally broke down and bought one! I had been posting all this time either from work, or at home on my Web TV, which I will continue to use from time to time. I cannot say enough about how happy I am with Dell, and how easy it was to customize, order, and set this thing up once I got it. They shipped it next day and I got it 3 days later (shipping was free too!!!). I set it up in the lab because I'm going to be using it to do mix CD's, edits, and music production. Being in the lab, I should be able to answer track ID's even faster too. I'm pretty excited to be able to listen to the newer DHP mixes too. Couldn't do that with Web TV because it couldn't play the newest version of Real Player. If any of you are thinking about getting a computer for the first time (like me) or upgrading what you have now, give Dell a try. I am very happy with mine so far......JMJ graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/grinyes.gif

Dude, stop messing around with that aol\msn crap, come into the light and get DSL\CABLE for gods sake. Oh concerning the WEBTV..... http://deephousepage.com/smilies/lach.gif

The school system that I work for purchases Dell Computers exclusively. Check out the website too. Simply enter the Service Tag number either on the back of the PC or inside the Grey door where your the extra USB ports and headphone jack is located. Once you enter that number, it will tell you all you need to know about your computer from Warranty Service, the date it was shipped, to all the hardware that was installed. Technicians usually survice computers within 2 to 3 days, but lately they've been coming within 24 hours. Good luck with your system.

But off the subject, did you ever track down that tape, where you were mixing on WGCI? Remember you said you were looking for? Just wondering ?

JMJ, ruse, dell has been running some great sales lately, i just got the same computer for my daughter, ruse - you should call them up and make your deal and then ask them for more discounts and they might take more off then ask them again if that is the best deal they can make, trust me, in this economy they are trying to move as many as possible. i'll check to see if i got any coupons.

I've got probably close to 50 of my old WGCI Mastermixes sitting up in the lab right now. Lots of Italo, by the way.... I don't have much experience with XP home edition but you'd probably want to upgrade to XP Professional and install the system updates. I still prefer Windows 2000 professional. This OS never crashed or locked up when I had it. XP Pro gives me problems here and there but it's better than the 9x Operating Systems by far.

Got a Dimension 8200 with XP, with a woofer as part of the sound system. Off the chain. All of a sudden, they come out with the brand new 8250. That's cool. Still love my "outdated" 8200.

Oh, yeah, get a DSL. I got Road Runner. Slammin'. Peace.

First of all, if you're going to go all out for a monitor, you need to get the 21" plasma screen if you spend a lot of time in front of your computer. Secondly, if you're going to have it in the lab, you need to put Pro Tools, and Cool Edit Pro on that puppy. Your edits will be a lot cleaner w/C.E.P. Then if you want REALLY fast internet access? Invest in your own T1 line. You'll be on the internet b4 you've even clicked on anything!
