Kerri in Belgium, two track ID's...badly!!!

Hi Peepz,

Kerri threw it down this Saturday in Ghent's Culture Club, he final scratched it all the way and one serious flaw in that system is that if you don't put all the info in it it can be hard to give a trainspotter like me a correct track ID, so all Kerri could tell me was:

MAW - Only Love Can Break Your Heart

So infamous dhp knowledge base, can you point me in the right direction?

Yup, that was St. Etienne in the MAW mix, too bad they let him start so late...

The MAW remix St Etienne has slighlty more beefed up beat to the original, apart from that they are nearly the same, balearic classic

The St-Etienne track shouldn't be too hard to track down as it was repressed perhaps 2 or 3 years ago. It's on Heavenly Recordings, good label that popped up around that time where deep house was a fashion in the UK... wonder if they're still out there. The pressing isn't all of that. A classic in Montreal... and around the world, when MAW was RAW.

The singer is a British lady called Sarah Cracknell, although by name they sound like a french band they are actually British people who supported St Etienne, hence name. They where also Cola Boy and did a track called 7 ways to love, one of those tracks with one line that got on your tits after a while.

Anyway, they have been going about 14 years approx and I think Heavenly Records has been going longer, although unsure, Heavenly is/was more an Indie Label.

If not, there's a track on Raw Grooves 2 on Large that has Michael singing 'Kerri play it for me, thank you Lord' over and over. There is a full vocal version of this track but it was never released. It's incredible, though, and he may have been playing that.

I dug this out last night, not that it moves far :D This has to be one of my favorite House records, the 'Salt City Gospel Changeover' is unbelievable, it breaks down with the gospel backing singers at the second break and brings tears to my eyes with the power and energy of Michael coming in with, "can the choir sing?", "all I can do is wave my hand, ha-ha", the choir sings, the hi-hats come in, then a sick Kerri style bass that's not on the other mixes just kicks you in graemlins/mecry.gif ..

Good luck with this, it's pretty rare, but worth checking out..
