When and where were they released?
I don't want to buy the shitty boots out now as "MAW Classic Mixes Vol 1", but I love the song.

Peace.

You're talking about Lisa Stansfield's track? Hmmm, I wasn't aware there were MAW remixes, I know there's the New Jersey Blaze mix...

How are the Blaze mixes?
There is a double 12-inch boot compilation with differnet MAW mixes(Jamiroquai, Neneh Cherry et. al) and one of them is the Coldcut/Standfield song which I really like.

Peace.

ok, then I'm really not aware of this MAW remix, I suppose the Neneh Cherry is Buddy-X and that remix rocks. As for the Blaze remix of People Hold On, it's a must get. The bassline is wicked and hearing it on a nice sound system makes the strings sound so live. Anyways, you can easily get that Blaze remix, I caught it 2 years ago on GEMM. It's on a label called Ahead of Our Time, there are Coldcut remixes on one side I belive and there's a different track on the flip side called "Yes Yes Yes". There's also a release on Tommy Boy.

The listing on Ahead of Our Time:

a1 People Hold on (New Jersey Jazz mix)
remix by Blaze
b1 People Hold on (Speng mix)
b2 People Hold on (Accapella mix)
b3 Yes Yes Yes

Just my opion but, the Cold Cut version is and will stand as the best remix of that song. MAW & whoever-else can put their spin on it but it will not equal the greatness of the first one.

In cases of a great song, few songs are made better than the original unless the artist or remixer is very talented.

For instants, Paul Lewis re-did Girl You Need A Change Of Mind by Eddie Kendricks. That remake is the bomb!!!!and situations like that are rare.

Luther Vandross took a old song by The Carpenters and made it a classic of his own, that song is Superstar.

Many have sang Prince songs but, his version always stand above the remake.

Stick with the original People Hold On and you can't go wrong. graemlins/beerchug.gif

A long while ahgo someone handed me a cd with 3 MAW mixes of People Hold On.
On listening to it it sounds like what Roger S was doing in the early 90's. These aren't MAW mixes (assuming you are talking about the same mixes).

Check out Rogers sound from 90/91.
Records like Michaels Prayer, Kathy Sledge, Orchestra 7 etc.
It's the keyboards and crashes that give it away.
