Hi All
I am using cubase sx3 rewired into reason
I have a rex loop sample in the dr rex player
I am using cubase's main sequencer window
2 questions
1 How do i get the midi rex data to show up in the cubase window rather than the reason window
I no you can just click to track but this puts the midi data into the reason window
2 I want to have a key change with the loop
I can do that by just clicking a higher/lower note on the dr rex player but how can i automate this within the cubase window?
Hope that makes sense?
Thanks
Ashwell

You can't get reason data in Cubase sequencer When you Rewire Reason acts as a plug in...you have to arrange the parts in reason....The only way you can get reason parts into cubase is to bounce part and turn them into audio and then import them into cubase

I was actually importing the midi into cubase but i think the difference in quantize settings was making it sound awful
Will bounce as WAV now and try that

if u have cubase as master and reason as rewired, both sequencers work at the same time.
so what u do is send the midi of the rex in reasons sequencer and there automate all the stuff.
when u play its gonna read all both reason and cubase sequencers.
thats it:rolleyes:
i think i do it that way. im actually not on my producing computer.
i woulda checked it better and helped u better.
and wait i dont know if u got me:P
sionce my english is not that good i suck explaining sorry
anyways
practice and enjoy!

another way is.
writing all the rex information on reasons sequencer, and then turn that file on audio wav.
and then work with audio on cubase on a new audio track(not midi).
!!

Sure he can insert midi data from reason into cubase.
All he has to do is export whatever instruments he wants as a MIDI file and then import the MIDI file into cubase.
Then assign the track that has the midi notes to play the reason device just as you would do with any other plug-in.
Hell be able to rearrange the notions, copy & paste to his preference. ( Keep in mind that rex files only have a certain amount of sounds on the keys.

thats what i was doing to start with mate
the problem i had is that the sound seemed to get all messed up like it wasnt reading the midi data correctly
i think as mentioned quantize setting may be the issue

In your case you have to move the midi to the start point thats the same as it was in reason.
if you already quantized it in reason you don't need to quantize it in cubase, you just have to move it to its starting position as it would start in reason.
Also, If you imported two or more midi tracks; its best if you have to move them to the right position, select all the midi tracks and move them as a group.
When the midi is imported its going to paste just the same as you see it in the program you got it from.
REMEMBER:
Before importing the midi; check that your cursor is at the begining of track or at the same position the midi started in reason. When importing midi files into cubase they tend to import at the cursor's position.
Meaning if your cursor in cubase is at the 32 beat mark and you import a midi file, the midi will import into cubase at the 32 beat mark. (got it?)
Happy Producing!

Keep your eyes open. lol
If the track doesn't come out right because you can't back track on something you did, then just delete the midi file and re-import the file as I previously mentioned.
This will be less fustrating.
Let me know.
