I worked on the video personally.
It got some MTV and MTV2 play for a minute, but it has since faded. I hear it's doing quite well in Europe. Where are you located again?

peace It's a cover for god's sake. A cover of a song implies nothing about the original, other than it was worth covering.
Personally, I'm not feeling Tiga's version, though in a way I do think it's SO BAD that it's actually KINDA GOOD.
As for the video, it's a joke. It was meant to be a joke. We made it for almost NO money with a guy who calls himself "Lord of the Marionette". I'm not kidding.

okay but I'm not saying doing a cover is illegal ... ( this one sucks in my book tho) what type of camera did you guys use btw ? Did you do any postproduction other than letting the background colors trip ?

peace Most of it was done in post. We shot the puppet on green screen and added the backgrounds later, which were created in After Effects and 3D Studio Max. We used a standard professional digi-beta camera. We had to use digi-beta instead of mini-DV becuz it's very hard to get a clean green-screen key from DV.

I've actually played this out a couple of times. Tiga is from my hometown of Montreal, so it's kind of in demand here. It's not the top record I'd reach for instinctively but on both occasions it was a request and actually worked pretty well. (It helps if it's actually starting to get hot in the room.) I doubt I'd ever play it again.
I kind of wonder however what to make of Tiga, he's had two hits, both covers...the other was "Sunglasses At Night"!!!!! (He's apparently a major pop star in Europe.)

A record unequivocally destined for "The Annoying Music Show" on public radio. I have used it to great effect as a punishment record. It truly makes the original sound like high art.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I like the video as well as the cover version.
Funny shit.
Peace.

the fact that it sounds 'sissy' is what makes it good. anyway, surely you can't get more sissy than being called Nelly...

It kinda reminds me of the video for Dr. Oizo - Flat Beat. Just wondering but it seems towards the end of Hot In Herrre it seems the puppets ran out of ideas , just kinda dancing in confetti, if the video needed a little 'push' to be great , that would be the segment to improve. It kinda loses steam (haha) at that point.

Tiga's cover is horrible. It's just plain cheese IMO. graemlins/puke.gif

I enjoyed the track for about week when I first heard it, it was fun to listen too and see the puppets dancing. I don't think it is much without the video. It is pretty cheesy.
The video is actually what I enjoyed most about it. Those puppets are great!!! I LOVE puppets, and seeing them dance in the video was very entertaining.
