Easy Al ,
You are a month and a bit late but thanks anyway ! . Man I am really looking forward to this it is going to be a dope night of music for sure .
I will be out flyering tomorrow Steve and Jolyon I will be coming down to your shenanagans sat night with Ramar graemlins/thumbsup.gif .
Peace Alex .
P.S As Ramar may of mentioned Voices will be also hosting a charity event in the cause of Actionaid and Sickle Cell Society directly one month after the jam this thurs .
For a really worthy cause - I had a friend pass away from Sickle Cell earlier this year and another very close friend involved with music and very creative in that field also who suffers from the illness . I stress all money will be going to charity as you will see when I BOARD THE NIGHTBUS HOME ! .
£5 Tkts in advance on this one from any of the Voices crew or Soho's underground record shops as I am sure Ramar has listed .
P.S Respects to Steve for getting us all together and holding it down as he does for this first in mant U.K Deephousepage events :D

M The venue is pretty cool and the music went down really well. We played balearic stuff pretty much all night and even usual dance floor clearers like Chris Rea had people dancing....
Quite fashion/poncey crowd which was a bit ummm.
Bizarrely, a few micro celebs too - Lady Victoria Hervey, 2 Sclub7 girls and Kate from Big Brother and supposedly, although I have no idea why, HARVEY KIETEL???!!!
But it was chaos on the door and lots of people with tickets had to queue for an hour or more.
All in all though I had a great time.

I actually received a flyer for this party through the post yesterday and was a little gutted this gig was not a little closer. :(
Jolyon, good luck with the non-mixing (I hope you stick a picture of Karl Kingston up in the booth to help you visualize why you do this and how it should be done!! :D ). P.S. I'm working on those MD's for you, just need to buy a new receiver because I can't get the station at home, only at work and the show's on at 11pm Saturday :(
Bill, A 'Ladyboy' is called a 'Newhalf' over here, so I guess in Japan, you'd be a 'Cheeky Newhalf' - make them realise you're the Paul Groves of Disco graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Jeremy, have a good one and don't let these guys push you around, you're the Daddy graemlins/thumbsup.gif
DJ Alex, I've said it before but you're a straight up 'real person' and your passion and humility is a lesson to us all. Thanks and check your post soon, loved the closing third CD especially - have a great night graemlins/beerchug.gif

I'm trying to tape up some radio shows for Jolyon and will get these to you as well - David's, Cosmo's and Nori's show on Shibuya FM over here.
I saw a repress of Thelma Huston - "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" this week, do you need this one? You asked about it, it's on the Roy Thode mix on Victor Simonelli's site.
I have a Danny Krivit mix and a DJ Nori unmixed CD to send you (will be with you in a week..)
Thanks again and Hitomi sends her love as well graemlins/beerchug.gif

The Danny Krivit one is live, the Nori one is just a collection of Classics he would play at Choice, NYC.
Also, I'm going hunting for new tapes, but they seem to have cracked down on these recently, with Manhattan Records totally stopping the sale of tape sessions.
I can get you Nori and Hiro (another big name for classics over here - he's also one of the guys in that book), mixes and I can get you U.F.O. mixes which are pretty cool.

first of all respects and then some to Steve 'Blackwax' for setting up the event. and to the DJs who did their thing, and we're talking about an array of approaches, styles, musical orientations what have you. the link was clearly good music. and Jeremy Newall, priveledged with the top spot, rocked it. I kept putting on my coat as tomorrow's workload is bearing down on me, only to shed it again realising that this was no time to leave! this has got to be the first of a series...

Report from yesterday:
Nice and deep music all night long, could it be any different?Thanx Steve for pulling Manzel-It's Over Now...sounded really good there!Jeremy rocked it till the last one...that Roy Ayers was baaad!
Nice also to put faces on names....But it seems that too many DJs( probably 80% of the crowd )on the dance floor doesn't really help to put a nice vibe.DJs don't dance?Hopefully the next one will reach more people outside DHP, cuz all the conditions were here for a fantastic party...but something was missing...too many rare records to talk about?
Anyway, thanks Steve for organising this event, and I'm looking forward to the next one...we can build up from something now!

Morning or evening all ,
I guess I better get in as I was playing at the event . Two things - imho it was a nice evening enjoyed by those there , secondly we could of had some more people for sure and some more energy on the dancefloor . Even though in the latter stages both Steve and Jeremy got people movin ! .
One thing that is really good about throwing a party like this is that it has alot of potential , there are no other nights playing a broad selection of music as we did , but it does take time for people to adjust , ideally I would love an event where people just dug good music - I'm sure we all would .
I usually play alot of house music new and old as I did tonight and it works the floor , I thought that by doing a deephousepagwe party , we would have more freedom to go across genres because as I understand it there are so many elements that contributed and are still classed as house .
But I suspect this will take a little more time also unlike NY and Chi - from what I been told , there is not as much as a large community of people who really dig what we do - good thing though because we can start something fresh as Steve took the intiative to do .
On reflection we had a small but supportive crowd who got down later . Respects to Steve , Niki , Fred , Jolyon - nice to meet you finally ! . Bill Brewster - wicked Jackson 5 edit ! . Jeremy for tumping up the system and smoothing it out - Blaze mix of Shaun Escoffery mmm.. . My crew Ramar , Ced's , Shannon , Miguel , Bud , Edourd ,Secret Agent , Si Parris .
DJ Romain visiting from NY! .
My sister and her fella for bussin a move they are coming to the Loft jam as well ! .
Will work hard for part 2 ! .
Peace Alex . ;)

wooohaaaaa
Sorry for the delay in reporting I couldn't get on DHP yesterday
Fistly a HUGE THANKS to all the people that got involved in this especially the DJ's.
Also thanks to Greg from coming all the way from france and Pq & Raoul who traveled from Bedford after a gig they where doing.
Nice to meet a few people from DHP too Sibump and tim lawrence you guys are cool
Yes the party was a little low on numbers but the music was spot on
some of the highlights where
Jolyon your set was an ideal way to start the evening lots of early house tunes too many to mention
Solid groove - flookin
rod stewart - passion
ian dury - reasons to be cheerful
ron carroll - back together
This is definately something I/We will be building on I enjoyed the night greatly as I am sure did everyone else.
The night was recorded and will be making copies as soon as I can
G-man I'll send them all to you
Unfortunately my camcorder wouldn't work with the light so low (its a nice dark club)
and no-one got a digital camera so no pics sorry
I'll finish on something I read on the back of a record cover the day after the party
and wether what we do comes off or not isn't realy the point. We learn from our mistakes and we can always have another go. The important thing is to try things out and see what happens

Hey people!
Massive thanks to steve for putting on this event. If people don't get off their asses and do something, then nothing gets done right?
The music was superb on this night, but then what would you expect from these DJ's. Nothing short of amazing records.
Not enough people though. Those that were there danced their socks off, but it just goes to show that even the best quality music in the world isn't enough to attract people in. (exasperated sigh!) It's like you need a gimmick to arouse attention for anything nowadays. But, parties like this WILL grow, by word of mouth, just like several other high profile parties did in the beginning.
However - the music, man, the music! You'll understand when you hear the tapes - there is gold on them....
Well done everybody!

cheers + much respect to Steve (blackwax) for intstigating plus all who helped and participated in event, a tad quiet in attendence but certainly some movers and shakers from the dhp board and beyond, some luurvely and varied tunes as expected plus some good old english kooky sense of humour dropped by a few (check sets when posted), thanks to Ade and the staff at PP, good to match faces to names then trying to work out names to dhp ids (gets kind of confusing), certainly positive potential for this event to continue in some shape or form so... LETS GET IT TOGETHER!
ps: nice to hear Cats Eyes dropped by Bill ;)
