Through these city nightmares you'd walk with me
And we talk of it with idealistic assurance
That it wouldn't tear us apart.
We keep our heads above the blackened water
But there's no room for ideals in this mechanical place
And you're gone now
and you're gone now
Through a grimy window that I can't keep clean
Through billowing smoke that swallowed the sun
You're nowhere to be seen
you're nowhere to be seen
Do you think our desires still burn?
I guess it was desires that tore us apart.
There has to be passion
there has to be passion
A passion for living
sunriving and that means detachment.
Everybody has a weapon to fight you with
To beat you with when you are down.
There were too many defences between us.
Doubting all the time
fearing all the time
Doubting all the time
fearing all the time
fearing all the time
That like these urban nightmares;
we blacken each other's skies.
When we pass the subways we try to ignore our fate there.
A written threat on endless walls
Unjustified crimes carried on stifled calls.
Would you walk with me now through this pouring rain?It used to mingle with our tears
Then dry with the hopes that we left behind.
It rains even harder now
it rains even harder now

Our Darknesson Techno House 3 ( I think this is the original... I'm not sure)

Our Darkness on The Best Of Hardfloor
Our Darkness '97 Version featured on Kai Tracid - DJ Mix

*****

This has to be one of the "most eclectic" tracks I've ever dance to... her voice is very haunting. I think (this is just my opinion) it ranked right up there with "Walk the Night/ Nightstalker" - as far as being considered disco/house; but daring and alternative.

To my knowledge there are 3 remixes to the song, I may be wrong. Don't know. I never knew the actual name of the mix that Farley played, however I found it on vinyl in Chicago (on a white label) for $5.00.

If you know, please let me know. Thanks. graemlins/grinyes.gif

I know he had it, because we got ours at the same time. It was a limited edition set that also included Raised By Snakes - Telex, You Spin Me Round - Dead Or Alive, Can't You See - Vicious Pink amongst others......JMJ

Now, along the lines of Our Darkness, there was another song that was often played in Chicago... no one could sing the chorus because to the European/British accent the lead singer had... however the most distinctive characteristic of this song was the COWBELL! The cowbell was rang at the beginning and the end. To people in my age group and social circle, it became known as the "COWBELL" song. I know, shame we just nicknamed it without any further research. About 5 years ago, I got the song on vinyl and guess what, it was an unofficial label and the words were smudged out on the label. So, even though I own it and have danced to it a million times --- I don't know it's formal name.

If this jogs your memory, can you please provide me with the title?

Ok, thanks! smile.gif

I saw some bootleg the other day that had that one and 'Street Player' by Chicago on the B-side. Seemed to be a more DJ friendly re-edit with the break at the intro.

Sleeper had a more raw energy to it. I lost my copy and wouldn't mind another copy if someone has one to spare. I wont give my left knut for it though.

Peace.

Is there any information regarding the lead singer, I could've swore he had some type of weird accent. Or rather maybe I just didn't understand him at the time because the whole song is constructed on non-syncopated beats and timing.

Last question: Do you think DMF would have any items along the Rock Pop/ Nu Wave lines? (ie Anne Clark, Liquid Liquid, etc)

I'm interested in purchasing some additional items from this genre... I think I'm going through an electro/ rock/ nu wave phase right now. Would like to see where it takes me?

Thanks graemlins/thumbsup.gif
