You, are in the wonderful, wonderful world of the Neo-Cons.
They, control all you see and hear. Now they wil control your life. See the wonders that can be!
Oh, so there are "no plans" to re-instate the draft? No, there are just EXERCISES and $28 million extra to get the whole Selective Service ready and open for business by June 15, 2005!!
Read this official budget carefully and you will see that Bush is gearing up the draft--there is no longer any doubt about it. Selective Service must report to Bush on March 31, 2005, that the system is ready for activation within 75 days. So on June 15, 2005, expect the announcement that the first draft lottery since Vietnam will be held for 20 year-olds.
Bush has added $28 million to get the whole thing ready to fly in 2005. The 4 performance goals in the link below basically make the system ready for activation.
Very long article, but spells out everything (http://www.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html)
VOTE FOR BUSH IN 2004, BE DRAFTED IN 2005!!

To add to this...There is a FY2004 plan to increase our armed forces by 8% (which really mean 24%). The increase will consist of the ARMY, MARINES & AIRFORCE. I know that I did a Navy bashing thing before but, the preposed increase excludes the NAVY. All of this will be on CNN as of the details.

They need to increase the military. With all of the deployments, they are running us ragged.

Yep, actions speak louder than words. Folks say what they think you want to hear but it's their actions that will tell you what they are really about.
Good post, Dolemite. Thanks for the link.

This may sound crazy, but is it out of the realm of possibility that people of draft age who are here illegally could be "rounded up" and used as "additional" resources?

Instead of poor and underprivilaged getting drafted for another war, how about drafting ALL americans(the rich, the privilaged, etc.) Do you know how many congressmen, senators, Bush administration officials have kids in the military? I will give you one guess.

Your point is a given.

If I'm reading this correctly men between 18 and 25 have to register already, by law.

I never knew that.

Will they draft those with felonies? I ask this because they aren't allowed to vote...and this will be interesting in the unfolding of details..
Leslie I absolutely agree with you...they should definitely be drafted...
Dolemite...I agree with you too, it should definitely be a diverse make-up...
we'll see

Thats old old news. We all had to do it, or risk not getting any financial aid.
Do you know that permanent residents (PR) are eligible for the draft and must register for Selective Service?

Of course I know that Mark. I am a US Marine. My point is, this will be a Vietnam thing where the poor will bear the brunt of the draft due to the rich getting out of it.
