New York, NY ˆ Rockstar Games announces the third annual ROCKSTAR GAMES UPLOAD online media awards. In the spirit of Rockstar‚s rich tradition of creative audacity and irreverence, ROCKSTAR GAMES UPLOAD is an ongoing effort to celebrate and support independent artistic endeavor as it is undertaken and distributed on the Internet. First launched in early 2001, UPLOAD is the very first truly online media awards in that all entries must be submitted digitally via file transfer protocol on the official UPLOAD website (www.rockstargames.com/upload; www.rockstargamesupload.com). Entry is open to professionals and amateurs alike; previous years‚ winners have included Matt Fraction of renowned Kansas City design outfit MK12 (for „Man of Action‰), commercial and music video director Adolfo Doring (for „Karaoke Man‰), as well as many aspiring up and coming artists given their first taste of worldwide exposure. There are several rounds of intensive finalist judging, handled by Rockstar Games and a celebrity judging panel comprised of esteemed professionals in the respective fields of UPLOAD category competition. Last year‚s panel included Josh Davis of Praystation.com, Jonathan Wells of RES Media Group, director Alexandra Shiva and many others. This year‚s panel is to be announced shortly. Grand jury prize judging is provided by category sponsors, IndieWIRE, XLR8R Magazine, Vice Magazine, and Design Is Kinky, in the respective fields of film, deejaying, fiction and multimedia design. Grand jury prize winners receive a cash award and will have their winning entries published on the official ROCKSTAR GAMES UPLOAD website.
Submissions are now being accepted in the following categories:
* Short Subject Film. Must be between 3 and 30 minutes in length. Acceptable formats: .mpeg, .wmv or .mov. Cash prize: $5,000.
* Deejay Mix: Must be between 30 and 60 minutes in length. Acceptable formats: .mp3, .wma or .asf. Cash prize: $2,500.
* Short Story: Must be between 400 and 2,500 words in length. Acceptable formats: .doc, .pdf or .html. Cash prize: $2,000.
* Multimedia: Interactive design up to five minutes in average experience duration. Must be no larger than 5MB in filesize. Acceptable formats are .swf or .dcr. Cash prize: $2,000.
