Does the House Scene seem to have way to many cliques? could this be preventing the music from taking it to another level. Im not talking mainstream just better for us in all ways. are the message boards helping to fuel the fire? whats your thoughts?

What cliques? Trust me, it is not as bad(good?) as in the past. There is 2 sides to every coin.

If anything, there isn't enough "cliques"(I prefer to call them alliances)in the scene. Everybody out for themselves and, for the most part, failing miserably(sp?). Alliances has always been a part of the scene from the start....ever wonder why in the early 80s(for those who were around) it was so hard to get a dj gig, or how come everyone knew each other or how come only the top dj got certain records? It has always been there and, IMO, it is healthy for the scene.

The 2 alliances("cliques" for those who only see the negative) that I see are doing very well and will continue to do so is:

The MAW camp
and
The Yellorange camp.

Of course there are others on the rise.

Think about it....but I guess that's not where the intended topic question wanted to go. There is always positives even within the negative....just look.

Heah HUTCH, you started the topic, so if you want serious dialogue on it, initiate the dialogue in your answers to folks...don't just get into a pissing contest.....anyway, I answered the topic question, let's see where it goes.

If 'cliques' are hurting the 'scene' (which I could care less about) just remember you are part of one and seem to revel in it.

this isn't directed at anyone. just general discussion.

truth is there are "perceived" camps. so what? it don't mean a thing. only thing that will hold you back is yourself.

everybody can not work together. too many cooks spoil the soup. so find you a group that you can work with and go after it. this means from production, remixing, promoting, djing, website, or anything else. start your own.

again, the only person holding you back is yourself. get out there and do it. even if you fail, get up and try again.

tc

tc Great words..

...as folks busy sit around wondering if there are too many "cliques" in the scene and is it bad for them or the scene, the scene and their dreams are passing them by......if you think it takes a 'clique' to get you to play at a party, then form one or build a better club....if you think a 'clique' is bad for the scene, then do you and don't worry about it, because if it is bad, it will ultimately fail.

I know one thing, the average party goer paying his/her money to come in the party certainly is not concern about 'cliques' in the scene...they are concerned about having a ****ING GREAT TIME AND THAT'S IT!!

Seriously, why does it matter if you are down by yourself or with a crew?TC said it best..."Everyone can not work together.."

Just do ya thang and stop complaining.

I guess it's time for another DHP break...

1.Make sure if you talk the talk, walk the walk. In other words, instead ramblin, complainin and talkin, put the PS2 remote down, and work on making your situation better. If it doesn't come to you, make your own.

2.There's safety in numbers. With that said, remember, the doors can swing open for you, but in the end its still up to you walk through it and not get pushed back out. graemlins/beerchug.gif

Exactly what "cliques" are we talking about? Which ones do you have a problem with? Do you have a problem with "cliques"? Or is it only the ones you are not close with that you have a problem with? What is your definition of a "clique"?

These question are for those who are so concerned with "cliques".

Thank you....have a nice day. smile.gif

Ask Louie Vega if cliques have a damn thing to do with his success or whether he gives a rats ass. And hell, remember he has got his too.

All in all they are there because some people are into some shit that others aren’t and so on.

Nothing wrong with that….

But keep in mind that the billion dollar hip hop industry has more cliques than imaginable and doesn’t seem to be hurting its success.

And for those that chose to use violence in their clique’s confrontations, those are just stupid cliques.

Some humans are ****ed up. Shame how people just will attack others and make fun of them.

Some people need to find happiness, than attacks.

God help house heads. They don't really listen to the music and the messages.

Or is Hutch in your clique?

People come on complaining about cliques that seem to be in cliques.

Like I said I dont care if he, you or anyone else is.

And then YOU, come on the board talking about how everyone treats everyone with no respect PLUR blah blah blah blah blah BUT when I point out what appears to be an obvious contradiction, instead of being in agreement you seem to 'stand up' for your boy........more clique shit.

It seems to me, from a moral standpoint, you are in no position to judge anyone, unless you want to lose respect.

I dont equate someone implying a contradiction about group association 'doing wrong to others'.
