have they got an 'image' of this bug in Discover magazine or something yet?
don't you think the little bugs need Gods help too to grow and flourish? God Bless the little bugs that can kill us, amen...
...or maybe God just created every other living thing for humans to SMASH AND CONQUER (except for each other, of course, gotta pretend to love each other so we can keep allied and maintain a strong enough army)

I don't know what to say Sammy, but it's in a few of our hospitals in Toronto, and all over the news here. I am seriously thinking of getting a face mask, but no red alerts have been raised which kind of makes me uncomfortable. I have no plans on going out like that.

it's actually one of the less deadly things you can catch. the media has created quite a stir though. i'm not discounting that it's serious, but the people who are catching it aren't exclusively gay, black or intervenous drug users, so you can be sure they'll have a cure very soon.

True 2121 but now it has reached Canada and USA,I would be great if we all contacted something that not even the CDC has or can recogize.War is a plague, sickness and misunderstanding is a plague.People are plagues,so lets all have a group hug,get sick and die.lol Its now air-bourne vs,sexualy or shared by needles, etc.I just regreat that God allowed for my 2 kids to come into this rid-dick-ulous world. No I cant blame God,I blame myself and those bottles of Ol English 800..lol

Okay...a reply to the actual thread. I have been watching CNN on a fairly regular basis, it's on every night where I work. This SARS issue has sort of faded into the background for them, as if it isn't an important issue at all. My husband's brother lives in Hong Kong. My husband is freaking out because he can't seem to find out anything about this on the news stations, he had to search out information about SARS on the net. I know that the war is everyone's top priority, but is there nothing else newsworthy going on in the world?
Why is CNN purposely keeping this issue on the back burner? What is really going on with this virus?

CNN newsflash...the CDC is 90% sure that they have figured out what SARS is. It is a new variation of the "Corona Virus".

what's interesting about this virus is that according to a cdc official, the strain in canada is different from the one in hong kong. what the hell is that all about?? when asked about travel advisories in canada, the cdc official said that people in canada have nothing to worry about. they can travel freely because it is a different virus. (I’m paraphrasing). only those making plans to travel to the far east were cautioned.
this to me is suspect. how has the virus been able to mutate so rapidly into a less dangerous organism. also how has the u.s. been able to avoid it? Only now are we seeing some cases creep up in the states. the way in which the virus has "traversed" the globe, avoiding practically everyplace on earth except two distinct areas so far removed from each other, seems highly unlikely.
of course i have no proof of this but it's my gut instinct.

5 in Illinois under scrutiny for illness
March 19, 2003
BY JIM RITTER SCIENCE REPORTER
There are no confirmed cases in Illinois of a potentially deadly respiratory disease that has spread across the globe, although state health officials are monitoring five people.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, has sickened 219 people and killed nine worldwide.
The Illinois Public Health Department is watching three men and two women who have experienced flulike symptoms. Three are from Chicago suburbs and two are from Downstate McLean County.
Flulike symptoms are one sign of the disease. However, none of the patients has both of the other necessary indications: fever higher than 100.4 degrees and recent travel to a region that has had a SARS outbreak (or close contact with an ill person who has been there).
All of the patients are at home, and none have been placed in isolation. The state is watching if they develop other indications of SARS.
The state health department covers all of Illinois outside Chicago. Within the city, there are no suspected cases, the Chicago Public Health Department said.
German researchers said samples from two SARS patients resemble a virus group that causes measles, mumps and canine distemper. There is no treatment for this virus group. The World Health Organization is studying the theory but said it's too early to draw conclusions.
Most SARS cases have been in health workers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam. A few probable cases have turned up in England, Taiwan and Slovenia. Unconfirmed cases are being investigated in many other places, including the United States.

Ya'll may say what you want about SARS (IMO it's just another flu buffed up by the media) but don't be talking about French Fries, it's Belgian Fries!!!! We invented that shit and we are the only ones who can make them properly :D
French fries...pfffff, that's like claiming that Ku Klux Klan invented Soul food ( graemlins/rofl.gif )

More and more people are wearing those surgery masks back here in Singapore. The service, entertainment and retail businesses have been badly affected as well. So many people here are paranoid about this SARS virus. It's not surprising.
Personally, I'm not really panicking. There's this inner confidence that He is by my side and if I must go, then so be it.
I guess, The Lord really is our strength.
Have faith everybody. Love will conquer all smile.gif
