Yes indeed, I'm now as awake as I can be on a Monday morning, so it's report time. Well, half a report, because I wasn't with Rahaan & Lyot all weekend.
All the DHP-Belgium headz had agreed to meet up in the coolest record shop in Brussels, Urban Grooves. When Rahaan arrived he couldn't stop talking about the fact that you could just drink a beer out in the street while passing a cop :D
After that we had dinner with most of the gang, while Rahaan, Lyot and DD Licious went out to the venue to make some adjustments to the soundsystem... (read: add mixer and cd players, because these didn't work at all...)
Around 23h we headed up to the club, and I gave Rahaan a taste of one of our finest beers, an action that would not pass without serious consequences
I started playing around 00h, and I had a totally wicked time, the place was slowly filling up and Rahaan jumping around the club to William De Vaughn's 'Be Thankful For What You've Got' was superb. By 1h30 the crowd was getting their groove on and I was starting to get sweaty, which is a good sign. By 2h Rahaan was supposed to take over, but Belgian beer-tasting had claimed yet another victim and our Chicago master was down for the count graemlins/rofl.gif
I hadn't brought that many records with me, so improvisation and b-sides had to save my ass, but fact is that I love these kind of situations and I managed to squeeze and extra 1.5hrs out of my box, playing both the dub and the vocal version of Nancy Martin's 'I Can't Believe' :D
After knocking over my records and not finding the headphones jack Rahaan took over and blew it up, Chicago madness that kept my friends, myself and the rest of the crowd going for hours, Chi-town all the way baby!!!
The mandatory nightly kebabs tasted ever so good :D
For the rest of the weekend I'm as anxious as anyone to hear Lyot's report, over to you Lyot!
