For me it has to be Ron Hardy's edit of 'Life Is A Jungle' just because it makes a completely new track out of a pretty terrible record.

Francis McGee // Delerium.
The LONGEST drum break; looped and filtered for ever before the song cut back in. No other edits required graemlins/acclaim.gif
Shame I wasn't the dj!

Have to hear it, yet.
But the Ron Hardy edit is a very good example for a reasonable one!
Peace.

Anything done by Ronnie,Frankie,Lil Louis,Rush,Hugo,LRR...man editing is done religiously here in Chicago.
There are too many to nameand too many jocks who have put it down on the blocks, tape decks, and dr4's and computers to have a favorite.

That Hardy edit of 'I can't turn around' is the biz - anyone fancy putting it to vinyl?
KDJ's edit of 'Be-oogie' is pretty damn fine - and rare too! If anyone can find me a copy I trade it for my spare copy of the 'Yellow" Black Cock release with that Jungle DJ edit.

I love the Ronie edits and LRR edits but the best I heard has to be the Lenny William's "Reach Out" on Bigbear. Who ever did this edit streched this the F**k out... Excellent!!
Also Mike Winston's edit of Ian Dury's "Spastics Anisticus"..

I kinda like the re-edits that didn't make it to wax. It remained the person who did it own exclusive edit. Thats what made it the shit, You knew when you heard that person, you would hear one of their edits, At least thats how it used to be. A lot of people said Ron, but you went to hear Ron cause you knew it was "Ronnie" edits. Edits are personal to me.

KEITH DUMPSON- LOVE IS THE MESSAGE
probably (arguably) the first edit done and BROADCAST over NY radio of this tune. In fact, Dumpsons re-edit served as a bit of a template for the TOM MOULTON re-mix (except for the cool rhodes parts and solos).
You can STILL pull out the Dumpson edit and rock a BARBECUE~!!

One of the best pieces in my colection is the "Big Freak" edit that Sean Smith & I did a few years ago. Alot of people thought that it was a solo piece...Sean & I did that one, and for the record...had it been a solo piece, it wouldnt be a good as it is.

My favorite re-edit / mix is Brad Wills "One More Round" by Kasso. If there is anyone that don't know it, it is on mix # 645 @ the 43:00 time mark.
My memories of that song are Farley on WBMX and the extream roar of the crowd at Belmont Beach when Frankie played it.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron Hardy That's It. Everyone one eles Just Followed... Frankie edits are what you call Remixes, nice and smooth. Ron edits are sick little demons that takes over your soul. Think about it, at the same time somebody made a song called "I Lost Controll" See Mr.Hardy made him write that song.

One favorite re-edit of mine off the top of the dome would have to be 'LowDown' secret undercover chopshop re-edit from brotha Sammy Rock from Tampa. He played at my crib the Sunday after 4th of July when he came out to Cali. It was catchy and slick. Creamy Spy in effect.... graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Some of my favourite re-edits:
MFSB "Love is the message" - Danny Krivit
Michael Jackson "PYT" - a 12" mix released on Ballroom records recently... Who did this one?
Duran Duran - "Notorious" by the Latin Rascals
Incognito "Always there" - a re-edit of the MAW remix by a french guy called Dylan.

Many of my favorite edits have already been named.
The Wordy Rappinghood without the lyrics is a scorcher!
FYI, I got these 2 hip-hop producer friends (they've got an indie album and even did stuff for some more commercial groups) that are big time record collectors of funk & soul, but also love disco and are working on tons of edits for personal use. Anyway, these guys are excited as hell to play them out at our party since they only get to play hip-hop gigs, so look out for "The Soul Purpose Re-Edit Show!" at Loose Joints in January!!!
