Backgroud: This chick, a member of this board, who shall remain nameless, and I were discussing the diff ravers and house heads. I was saying that ravers were lame and they are just looking for a place to fit in. I also said that most of them came to music because of it association with drugs. Then she replied the all house heads are weed heads. I was like, hell know most house heads I know don’t even drink that much. And even if the did smoke, it was nothing compared to all the drugs that at your average rave. She then went on to say that most of the most important figures in house today came from the rave scene. Now keep in mind, these are all blanket statements and I by no means claim to be some “True school house head”, however, I just wanted to know If anyone sees truth in this cause I don’t..

All house heads=weed heads? So all weed heads=house heads? So all rappers, thugs, etc. that love to smoke weed are house heads? Snoop Dogg is a house head. Whitney & Bobby and Dionne Warwick must be house heads (they must be acid house). People who have MS and Glaucoma are house heads. Kool. Short yellow school bus logic.

the reality is that some people are more open to certain experiences - this is true with music, with drugs, and with weed (which I don't personally think of as a drug, but an herb).

Anyway, the original statement is clearly inaccurate at best, but one might want to point out that talented musicians and artists thoughout history have had tendencies to at least do some experimenting with "mind altering substances".

I still to this day don't understand why something mind altering like Prozac, Welbutrin or Alcohol is considered acceptable while a simple unprocessed green herb is not.

It always amazes me so many non-smokers diss it, or condemn smokers as layabout stonors. For f**ks sake! Why don't they go do something constructive like tidy their bedroom, or go and dig their old stamp collection out or something, and let the stonors get stoned.

I would say that the drug of choice in this scene is weed. It doesn't mean everybody does it, but most people who are 'on something' have that smell on them.

there is definetly a connection. My clique was smoking weed for a long time and I tried it, but since they are the kind of people who get stoned and watch south park, the stuff never appealed to me. Then one night I was with a bunch of non smokers and we were all really bored when this chick loaned me some weed. I was the only one who smoked, and so I started playing with my cd's, dropping this and that, when I put on Phylis Hyman's You Know How to Love me. It was an epiphany,the kind of eye opening moment that comes once or twice in someone's life, and weed, deep house, and I are going stronger the longer ever since.

I also get really nasty with people who put down herb. It isn't a drug, no more than alcohol or tobacco.

[/QUOTE]It may be categorized as a "drug" by the government, but it's less of a drug than Ecanacea(sp?), coffee or refined sugar, which are all refined and chemicalized in some way, but none of which are classified as "drugs".
