I am spinning at a beach party on Saturday and I was wondering if there is any thing to be aware from when it comes to my lp's?
Will they get mold easily?
Any horror stories?
What advice do you have or is there nothing to fear?

What advice do you have or is there nothing to fear? be careful of the wind and sand combination. try to put up some cardboard around the decks to block the wind. be extra careful when putting your records back into their sleeves. don't sweat the water...that won't be the problem. also, if it's hot, make sure to have a cover over head. i had a record melt upwards like clay on a pottery wheel once :(
and have fun :D

No but if sand can get into sandwiches then it can get into anything!!
i guess your records will be fine aslong as you keep them covered.I wouldnt be using my equipment tho if i was you!!

make sure the decks are shaded.
Lp's have been known to melt and
warp right in front of your face.
it didn't happene to me but....
so i have heard. graemlins/acclaim.gif

Are you using a generator for electricity? If so, consider getting (renting) a good voltage regulator and surge protector to prevent possible 'spikes' in current from the generator from blowing your amp. Also keep full cans of gas handy. Also it might be a good idea to have a backup amp(s)...amps can funtion in weird ways when used outside.

Luckily I'm not using my tables and they are renting a generator. My only concern is the lp's plus weather should be good here this weekend. I don't mind cleaning my records after the weekend but i just didn't want my records to get moldy due to humidity. I will watch out for hot weather.

Yeah, I've done a couple over in Gary.
Just make sure that you're in a tent (overhead cover) and there's some cover from the wind.
As for the sand, just try to keep the records off of the ground (preferably on a table), and make sure that you just devote one day after the set, to cleaning and dumping sand from the record sleeves, the case, and everywhere else.
Other than that, have fun and make the beach babies shake their a$$es!

Here in southern California we throw beach parties all the time. like others said, if your records are off the sand you have no worries. you really dont even need a canopy over your head. if you go grab your records right before your set, they aren't gonna melt. but a canopy will help prevent sunburn. if its windy, put some records in the coffin around the decks. also, have someone else put your sunscreen on your face, you will never get it off your records.

I use to play at the Coney Island Boardwalk parties every summer.
Here are the things you should worry about.
You need the equiptment and your records out of the sun. Period!
Ofcourse don't put your records on the sand,,Duh!
Have some type of wind guarder around the tables so the record wont skip!
Make sure you have a sufficient power supply.
Lastly. Don't worrie about your records molding out side, Thats stupid. If anything your records are in the best conditions cause the air is natural air.
after that its all up to you to play your heart out.
Playing outside is nothing like playing in a club.
something about the out doors allows your mind to just run wild.
God I miss playing outside.
Maybe next summer I'll do it again.
Good luck and play a song for the air.... graemlins/beerchug.gif
