There have been many posts on this board about producers, tracks, rhythm patterns, and only about 5 or 6 of us can actully disect a song and examine each of the elements that make up each song.

The rest just name drop like crazy as if that's gonna prove your knowledge of music. This is getting really tired.

I was reading Dennis F's post and I noticed more name dropping and a lack of analytical comments on why you decided to choose "so and so". The last thread was from Magus and it made soo much sense. Stop dropping names without an explanation please.

Let's talk about music dammit!!!!!

No doubt. In that thread, I was hinting that I might drop a little nugget of secret Neptunes production magic I found out about, but nobody was interested. I even tried to disguise it as namedropping at first so as not to put anyone off graemlins/stupid.gif

As expected, instead of decent replies, I get jokes.

It really makes me wonder who really listens to the music out there, rather then just playing it.

Peace

Peeps who really study the aspects of productions and how various producers have progressed with their production styles.

i'm all for talkin' about music. i just find it ironic that that is not what your post is about, even though that is its title.

but i like your other posts and replies....so no disrespect. let's have a music conversation. where do you want to start?

No, my reasoning for making this post is a result of reading other threads about "what producer..." and "what song" and about 80 percent of the thread consists of name dropping without any valid reasoning or explanation as to why he or she chose those names.

There are cats that can back their information up with accurate information, and add insight to many of these threads, then there are some others who just post names and can't explain their reasoning as to why they chose those names and titles.

The guy (bigshot pro recording engineer) who has been in the studio w/them said their main axe is one of the Tritons ancestors, the O1/W. Which of the two they use is immaterial to his whole point though; they're both regular ol general purpose ROMpler workstations when you break it down.

The point of the discussion was that people tend to focus on the engineering aspect of the Neptunes stuff. To confuse things further, people these days don't know the difference between producing and engineering, so they call it "the production". Anyone with a good budget can go into a real studio with a real engineer and come out with their shit sounding all phat and shiny and swirly. What sets the Neptunes apart aurally is their programming. They are programming nerds and they sit there hacking away until the beats are beating and the sounds are dialed. It's about the music! That said, it sounds all phat and shiny and swirly because they track and mix it with a real recording engineer in a real recording studio on SSL/Neve, Eventide/Lexicon, etc, etc.
