You know ..For all the crap that has gone down on this board, noone is really talking about how this had to be one of the best parties in a long ass time. I got there and Sting was rocking the set. Timmy got on for awhile and did his thing. Spinna also got down, throwing down some nice classics. Also bringing the tempo down. Ray got on and brought the tempo back up, and it seemed like alot of peeps from the roof( which was packed and had Timmy Regisford chillin up there) came down whem he did. NEar the end of Ray's set Timmy asked Glenn to get his new track(sorry had never heard this one). He asked Glenn to play it, but he politely declined. Timmy played it had cats screamin to it . Timmy stayed on an proceeded to give us about 40 mins of straight heat on top of the heat that is on the dancefloor. By the time he put the Donnie remix on, that place was on fire. HE worked the hell out of that record, brought it back and then just cut it off and had everyone just standing there from the booth to the dancefloor giving him a standing ovation. 2 women had their heads on the walls, and were banging their hands on the walls. One of them described the moment as orgasmic.

It looked like Timmy was packing up, the lo and behold, he throws on "Let the music play" - Barry White. After that went off you just knew that was the end and that you didnt need anymore. This was close to 530pm.

Can we discuss this maybe?

I predict 1 page.

:D :D :D

Btw, have you seen the Humphries comp on Azuli. I think there is soem LEftfield stuff on there like Massimo Barsotti and Liquid Liquid, even if those ones might be common. At least, he choose soem of the not so same-thirty-disco records...

Peace.

That's what I wanted to hear.I was thinkin' of this set all weekend.I woke up sunday mornin' and was like "Damn, they still partyin' at Shelter.."

I miss that shit and can't wait to come back.I talked about this set to folks for weeks. It amased all of the Chicago peeps.Folks do not get a non-stop thing like that here.A concert and a party til 5:30 the next day?Cats better wake the hell up and appreciate what they have access to.

I am not downing my city, cause things are looking better by the day.Hell,we are in the middle of a ressurection as we speak!!I just know what a blessing it is to stll be able to party until the damn daylight.

I don't think I could ever reasonably be called a Shelter hater, but I don't guess I share the prevailing view. On Sunday past I danced, cause that is what I do but I did not experience the portions of the event that I attended (1:30a-3:30a & 12:30p-5:30p) as being nearly as transcendant as Robbi's Birthday or the Anniversary Celebration or frankly many a regular week. I got bored. It was weird for me because I had a whole lot of stuff to dance out but I could not find my way into the flow of the event experiencing the good stuff I go to Shelter for only in sporadic bursts. It is always good to see all my friends at once so that was its own reward. A fair time at Shelter is by far more enjoyable than just about any time at most other place.

The new track that TOT referenced and Ron Paizley asked about elsewhere is called "God's Day". Anthony Nicholson and Glenn Underground worked on it together. I do not know how it will ultimately be credited. Hearing it was a tremendous lift to my spirit and sent me into one final burst of full out movement.

At somewhere around 4:30 am, Frankie Feliciano played "Could you be loved" by Bob Marley. That caught me WAY off guard but I loved it and so did the rest of the dancefloor from what I could see.

Dude, I was about to fly up there just to get my party on, I just couldnt find anyone to cover my shift!!!!!! mad1.gif
We all know how shit and politic's goes hand in hand in chicago.
That's why there's a lot of shit to be clean here and that's one reason why people only se me once a year.
Im with you on this J.326, I remember when party's back then use to go for a while, but some new and old peep's here didnt have the feeling of being at a party until 8.9 am or even longer at some set's.
wouldnt it be cool if that was in the chi?
But we flip it, let's say a Tin City concert with a host of dj's past and present?
A still pic roast for the late Ron Hardy, hmmmm, it can be done.
Just a thaught, it can be at a club, and it can start @ 12.00pm-4.30am ( due to the city cabaret license) make it legal so there wouldnt be any b-s with the cop's.
Make it so in 2004!
Just a thaught.
Peace out.
