Deep See is the three-years-old-and-counting underground house music party founded by DJs E-Man and Lola. Started in May 2000 on Mondays at the Lower East Side bar/lounge Guernica, Deep See has grown into a well-respected venue that attracts top notch talent from around the world.
*
Supported by both the industry and music lovers, Deep See serves as a weekly networking spot where label executives, producers, promoters, DJs, visual artists, dancers, writers, singers, musicians, photographers, and filmmakers gather to hear the latest independent dance music.
*
After nearly two years at Idlewild, where the party branched off into live music ("The Live Sessions"), a lecture/presentation series on house/dance music ("House to Learn"), and hosted many auxiliary events, including art and photo exhibitions, Deep See moved to Sapphire Bar & Lounge, where in the
last several months, the party has started to take on a new life. E-Man and Lola are working with a more experimental sound: broken beats, percussive funk, deep bass-driven house, E-Man's works-in-progress, and occasionally freeform sets that delve into Dr. Buzzard's Original Savanna Band, the Police, Nina Simone, Patty Duke, and more classic recordings.
*
The party's underground house aesthetic has grown to include a core of dancers who seriously work it out on Sapphire's small dancefloor.

Deep See now features more of E-Man and Lola, as guest DJs will only appear once or twice a month. The remaining Tuesdays will feature E-Man and Lola all night, and the third Tuesday of each month will feature Kai Fikentscher's "House to Learn to Love" in an extended two-hour format (which this week will feature "substitute teacher" Jon Martin of King Street &
Chateau Noir).
