i dont think the beats or bass complement the vocal at all
Also the rhodes chords seem out of key?

well you did ask! :-)

I think the beat is like you said laid back and clean.

The vocals seem a little shaky to me as well and that’s why I posted it to get other ears to listen.
I think I have to pitch shift it to fit.

Plus the acappella I got had some glitches and I had to stretch them so the lyrics would be clear.

I do have the original down temple acappella and I think I should use that one instead. This way I can get a cleaner vocal and then I’ll pitch shift it to better fit the melody.

Thanks for you time and the feed back.

Huuumm.
Let me digest that.

I think the all the instruments compliment each other but I think the Rhodes are a little loud.

I will experiment with the Rhodes to hear it in a different key.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

I will keep you posted on the upgrades of the track but I look forward to more comments.

Carry on!

I would add a thicker Kick to it.

Sup Kay Pee.

I like it. The out of key/"wrongness" that people are referring to kinda works for me. Gives it an abstract, left-field quality. That's just Brooklyness. LOL

That EP is mad loud and a little thick. There's no variation of instruments to speak of until the very end. I'd actually play it as is. Cool idea, mane. Nice groove.

Jay what up?

I agree the EP takes over the track and allows the vocal to get lost.

Yeah I need variation in the instruments to keep the track swinging to the groovy beat.

The out of key thingy is had me on the fence but as you mentioned it works for you but not others.

Outside this post (site) I've gotten the same mixed opinions.

I am going incorporate the feedback(s) and mix the track down again once I stop working OT at my gig.

I will repost the track when I’m done.

Thanks for your time!
