I found that sleeve in a basement in NYC last year with 'Woman - Barrabas' stenciled on it.
Needless to say I nearly had a heart attack. The vinyl inside was not Woman or by Barrabas however. :(

It's a ridiculous sum, but there was a funk 45 by Arthur Monday on eBay recently which went for $4,500. What made it funnier was that two of the bidders were flatmates. And they knew what each other was doing, too... A Japanese bidder beat them to it.

Is that track that damn hot? I'm not asking about it's collectibility, that's pretty obvious, but how good is the actual music? I've never heard it.
Anyone..?
That's ridicuolous!! On the other hand, maybe it's time to sell a few things on Ebay....JMJ graemlins/cool_shades.gif

Brings back memories(childhood) , so for me it's hot.
but,I wouldn't pay 2125.00 for it.
besides the time length is the same as the album.

Sadly a desperate collector would buy that 12inch. Only a small community of collectors would see this as a piece of "gold." As a result you are stuck with a record that you paid all this money for with a slim chance of making the money back if you ever decide to sell it. I would have to pass on that one.(having both albums (orange colored album sleeve and the album with the black "colored monster" on the sleeve) is good enough for me. After holding on to this piece for 10-20 years will it be as valuable as 2gees hmm, I don't think so. or maybe it's value will remain with only a select few of individuals. It's not like buying or selling a Beatles orginal album or your original Flash Gordan #1 comic book. Besides I don't think in 10 years you will be able to pay off your daughter's tuition after selling this record.. graemlins/nono.gif

He will get his money back if he chooses. Obviously he is not in a desperate monetary situation at this time. If I had the money to spend like that I would have bid on it. Collecting rare records becomes an art after awhile. There are few dj's who actually collect. I have the good fortune of knowing most of the ones in NYC and learning from them. Those who go around saying they will never pay more than 20 bucks for a record, are the ones with a nice bootleg collection. To each his own..On 12" BTW.

or the ones that look patiently no matter how much time it takes to find them in dollar bins or someones collection,
or the ones that go to montreal every now and then and check the used stores........................
or the ones that find gold at flea markets.............
I'll still never pay 2000 dollars for used vinyl that will crack with age.( Like my Candido album)

That can't be for real. No one can be that stupid that they'd pay so much for a damn record. Someone take a picture of the person that buys it cause I've gotta see the face of stupidity in all its glory.

Records rarely lose value. The only way that will come down in price is if someone finds boxes of them in a warehouse somewhere. It could still happen, but Billybuys obviously doesn't want to wait. If I had the money sitting in the bank I'd happily pay. What's the difference? An example - the guy who paid £15k for the Frank Wilson record owns a highly successful double glazing firm. He's a millionaire. 15 grand is a drop in the ocean, he doesn't miss the money, and he now owns a record that only one other person in the world owns.
It's easy to say that you'll find records in dollar bins if you're patient, but who here ever found a 2 grand record in a dollar bin? Some records just ain't going to show up.

A friend of mine found 3 copies of "woman" on red colored vinyl from mexico. It's amazing what's still out there....that record isn't quite as rare as people think... alot of it's hype that sells these records... IMHO
