I believe Tim Lawrence has the exact details + IV
with the individual (from NJ) ..that dates back to 1965. Not sure if it was a club tho' -- more like a restaurant where 2 TTables where "somehow" joined together & continuous music played.
Steve D'Aquisto arranged a meeting a 3 or 4 years ago for the LSD book/Tim Lawrence....

Francis Grasso at Sanctuary?
We're talkin continuous beat mixing via
overlay or slamming on the one,
NOT just randomly overlapping the outro with the intro.
Also, Walter Gibbons has been mentioned many
times as one of the pioneering beat mixers.

I went further in my reply (perhaps I drifted) but the FIRST DJ - USING TWO TTABLES - for entertainment purposes ...for the public, is where I went to.

Jimmy Saville - Otley, UK. First DJ to put two tables together...that was in 1948.
Slim Hyatt - "Le Club" first American "discotheque DJ", early 60s.
Terry Noel - "Arthur" mid 60s. Basic mixing, probably the first to really attempt to beat mix with two decks.
Francis Grasso - "The Sanctuary" and others. Hours of beat mixing - probably the first "modern" DJ.

What, no mention of Moses' hot remix of 'In The Bush'?
And lets not forget that it was not that 'deep' in those days, there was a lot of gang warfare in the clubs and a lot of people needed tablets to get their groove on... :D
