Domino effect. It happens once and then it keeps happening. Since that porch collapsed killing 13 people, it has happened several more times. Now, a little girl has fallen off of a porch on 77th & Loomis. They also just said on the news that if you have a wooden deck with a barbecue grill on it, you can face charges and residents are angry. Did these people not learn anything from that Northside incident or E2? I am not trying to die for a piece of rib. Dead folks don't need food.
I got pissed when one guy got on tv and spoke about allegations that there were at least 60 people on that porch. He was disputing the number. He said something like, "we're all successful, college educated, live in nice apartments in nice neighborhoods. We're smarter than that." WTF does that have to do with the cost of tea in China? Smart collegiates F*#k up, too. That doesn't make you invincible and doesn't stop you from getting killed. I thought that was a condescending, stupid thing to say. But he didn't say, "oh, yeah, we were drinking too." Were they drinking RESPONSIBLY???? Let's do the math. Say there were at least 60 people on the porch. Average weight, at least 100 pounds each.
That's six thousand pounds. Elephant weighs about a ton. Put 3 of them on that porch. Crumple like popsicle sticks. Where's the logic? You have to be careful and watch these porches, just as you have to be aware of an over crowded club. Hell, you gotta watch where you walk and party with an escape plan. Getting crushed is an awful way to die.
Would you go to a barbecue or party on somebody's porch right now and be able to enjoy yourself despite all that's happened?
