I'd like to thank Mr. Mancuso for the gift he gave us,the chance to experience his presence and music.
I know that it wasn't the perfect place to experience the Loft vibe(as i imagine it)as the pary was in
a quite big club, but it's one of the very few(2-3)that truly support the sounds we love here in Italy, and the system, not being the Loft system,it's very good.
The room started cheering and dancing to sounds
such "Stand on the world","Ain't no stopping us
now(Risco Connection),"Go bang","Say a prayer...","Brand new day","Do what you wanna do","Getting ready for the future","Little bit of jazz","It's music","Now that we found love","Can't live without.." ...great song after great song after great song!!
David would have take us even higher if it wasn't for the OWNER of the club forcing the dj's to respect the schedule even against
the willing of the resident and of all the guys at Red Zone that with their work and knowledge
put the culture in the club(and in Italy it's not so easy..).
I know of the battles beetween the owner($$$ graemlins/nono.gif ) and
the guys(music, music, music) for not letting the club to become one of the hard music place that go so well down here..If you're reading this post David:I hope the cheers and clapping at the end of your set washed away the bitter taste of
not having had the chance to delight us even more! It's been a true gift to have the chance of hearing you!

Ciao!
David played the RED ZONE wich is in Casa del
Diavolo (Devil's home !!)very close to Perugia.
Here's the link to the club
www.redzoneclub.it (http://www.redzoneclub.it)
I've discovered this club september 2002 altough
it's on since 1989..i've always been more into
intimate mod then soul events and 60's/70/s/80's black music but as i'm starting to feel the sounds of certain kinds of modern dance(natural step) i find in that space an exellent dancefloor:no door drama, good sound s.,very knowledgable(sp?) DJs.
If you're in Italy check it you won't be disappointed!!
A presto,
Marco

"One washes the eyes with the beauty of Italy."
Greetings Margo:
Regarding the schedule:
I was given the opportunity to continue until' -- whenever, but there would be two of us. The decision was mine regarding the schedule. To earn the respect of my fellow DJ, I thought it would be best to "share" equally the time....therefore 3 hours each, ......covered the evening fairly. Also, my request to start the evening and to go until' 3am, was I thought, a proper and respectful way to be a "guest," and therefore to also insure that all bases would be covered properly.
The hospitality from a 2 z was wonderful in every respect ......from day one.
Normally, the set and setting is not what I would pursue....but given that it was "our first date," ... one must start from somewhere.
Re the sound system:
It was, as it is often the case "out there," that the sound system is heard rather than the music. Therefore I had to navigate in a manner that would allow the "system" to perform more wisely i.e. some records work and some won't, sonically. I did bring my own cartridges, of course.....but "other" factors were in play. For ex. -- there is a lot of music in the nuances, but the system would not allow that "to be heard and felt." So one has to choose....what kind of "toppings" to put on a bad pie.
All in all, I was very comfortable and was honored to have the opportunity to share in this particular evening with everyone.
Recommendation re the sound system:
All Disk Jockeys and others who present music, should bring and use their own stylus. This will open doors and create individual opportunities to say the least. I would like 2 suggest that
the TTables be modified with a SME 30 12 R tonearm. This will make the system more musical and would be of modest cost, and will increase the quality of the sound by at least 50%.
The following day I had the opportunity to meet the ownner(s) -- and they were very pleasant. .....they also apologized that there were not any balloons --- as per agreement.
I will see you most likely in July once again. However, it might be in a different location which will be a raw space....and not a club....and the party this time will be built from the bottom up.......
Ciao,
d

Re: Fly Me To The Moon
My sister was married on Sunday - a wonderful joyous day - and her and her husband danced to Fly Me To The Moon - it's a moment I will never forget.
Glad you had fun in Italy David.

Michele told me about the party in Florence, wich
i was unaware of when it happened...i hope to see you and hear from you in that kind of space...
I'm glad that at the end all was ok for you,and that the 3 hours set issue was your decision..if it wasn't so that would have been the only bitter taste of the nite for me.Gentleman!
I brought my girlfrind and four friends that loves music without going to clubs,i made them read your history on the booklet of the compilation during the trip to Perugia e they've been amazed by the music!!
A presto!!(.. not enough;))
