For those in New York who were tuned in back in the days on Saturdays at 1:00pm, Video Music Box is celebrating it's 20th year in the business. THE ORIGINATOR OF ALL THESE HIP HOP SHOWS ON TV TODAY!!!!!!!

Was listening to the Open Line on Kiss FM yesterday, and VJ Ralph McDaniels was on it.

Didn't know
1) He directed many of the early hip hop videos that were out back then.
2) He directed about 300 of them.
3) Hype Williams came out of his camp.

Y'all know y'all used to anticipate Whodini's "Five Minutes Of Funk", the opening song for the show.

Happy Anniversary, Uncle Ralph! Peace.

Mike Barnes Mike,

Ralph gave props to Lionel Martin on the Open Line Radio Show. I was the one who left him off of the post (forgot his name--my bad). Peace.

kept my nose wide open all thru the 80's

just about single handedly created the urban video format also he's been intrumental in all
erea's of dance video's (even before hiphop videos but thats on the dl) broke many artist played clips no 1 would touch
the real virtual ghost in the machine
a real shaper of the current video industry

UNCLE RALPH CONGRDULATIONS

I remember watching that Malcom X video "No Sellout" and the "Inside Out" video way back when! The "Self Destruction" video too, which used scenes of a drug bust in my hometown, was another fave. He had a free show at Damrosch Park one summer years ago with Kool G Rap and that dance troupe that was hot in the late "80's,early 90's, dancing to "It's A Demo". Their name escapes me now, but they were 3 guys with the obligatory "high top fades" who danced behind many acts at the time.

I thought that there were 2 guys who danced behind everyone--Scoob and Scrap Lover (most popular backing Big Daddy Kane). If there were three, the other one may be Kwame. Kid and Play were only two cats. Mike Barnes, where you at? Peace.

Say einnod23, Kool G Rap and Polo(Dj Polo)had there own dancers when they came on the scene in the mid to late 80's, I can't remember there names right now, But, They were two cats who were extra nice with theirs,(Big Daddy Kane's Dancers were extra nice also), I remember Hot Diggity Dog having a crew of cats down with him in the late 80's early 90's(Hot Diggity Dog was one of Chubb Rock's Dancers), It seems like all of the dancers back then(Late 80's early 90's), Were sporting the high top fades hard(LOL), Speaking of Dancers, Alot of cats/young ladies remember Big Lez(Former Host of Rap City in the late 90's), For Dancing in video's, But, Does anyone remember Elise Neal(DL Hughley's Wife on the Hughley's TV show), Dancing in some video's, One Video that i remember Elise Neal Dancing in is 'Just the two of us', By Chubb Rock(Produced by Howie Tee)from around 1991,(The same album that had 'Treat em Right'on it,) Also, Nia Long used to be in a few Video's in the late 80's early 90's, On the low, LA Sunshine(Treacherous 3), Was one of Kool Moe Dee's dancers in the late 80's, Also, A cat named Rennie Harris from Philadelphia used to dance in alot of video's back in the mid 80's to early 90's, For artists such as Run-DMC,Houdini,Boogie Down Productions, etc, Cats/Young ladies will probably remember Rennis Harris for being the Host of 'One House Street', Dance Music show in the early 90's in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, I think Rennie Harris still has a Dance company called 'Pure Movement', in Philadelphia nowdays.
