Opinion:

House is alive in the people who choose it as their main genre of music. It takes on different mutations based on the different type of patrons that perpetuates its shelf-life.

No genre of music can truly die... just because it doesn't tickle the fancy of the (mediocre, pop absorbed) masses, doesn't mean that it doesn't live on... it just lives quietly and serenely in those who are a bit musically disconnected or elevated (in some cases) above the common man.

If house has a nasty cough, a good kiss may do... and if the knee is grazed, just let it bleed until it scabs over and heals itself...

time heals all wounds
and i'm sure in time
house will heal itself

Just my £0.02.

good morning martin,albert and efab

at least this thread is more positive than the
pessimistic, house hating, grumble and moaners threads that are always around to try and make everyone feel down on the music.

i am vowing to stop reading them because they only attempt to destroy people beliefs in the music and any new blood to the game reading them will be questioning whether they even want to get involved in the scene at all.

The same people moaning about it dying would be the same people who would moan if it took of into the mainstream again.

you can never win on a subject like this because haters are haters and moaners and moaners.

house lives on.ive heard the house is dead statement for years and even when i first got into the music 13 years ago in the UK everyone was saying that its never gonna survive and that its just a fad.

all the crap about there being no good records and there not being any talent is bulls*it too.

i think there is lots of great records out and to be honest a lot of the older early 90s stuff is crap musically aswell as producton wise.

a lot of people are living in the past and need to move on.

have a nice day!

bring on the new gear that my £0.02p ;)

have a nice day!

bring on the new gear that my £0.02p ;) In 1990 when I graduated highschool and my primary energy of being a house-head had to be placed towards getting into university and what the hell I was gonna do for the rest of my life... a lot of people told me "house music" is dead.

House grew on... and I grew with it.

In 1993 when I was going to the Warehouse on Randolph Street Wed-Fri every night, straight getting my house groove on and then coming back to the dorms ingesting Jolt cola to stay awake for finals... they told me house music is dead and that I should get a life and stop being a pseudo-house-head.

House changed, kept growing... and I grew with it.

It's 2003 and if it wasn't for house music, I wouldn't be here with my husband, living abroad in England...

So, they can keep telling me that its dead until they run dry in mouth and gasp for air...

House music is here to stay, I'm living proof that it moves people, changes live and lives on. It is as inspirational as it always was...

The people who moan and groan about it are the people that refuse to change their view or open their minds to different facets of the genre. They aren't going to actually contribute to the growth, because they've grown content with their complaints...

Let them b*tch and moan until their rag falls out... those of us who love music know the score.

Take care and have a great day!
;)

House isn't dead, but if you don't get the younger set into it, it will be soon. this is why I love David Morales. his reputation for showing up in gold chains and partying between records draws the 15 to 18 year old crowd whenever he shows up here. I remember talking to a 16 year old who told me about how cool David Morales was. he also draws in girls of all ages, from 15 to 35. His reputation for gettin the party started proceeds him, and he is a favortie among those who otherwise find house boring. Personality, thats it. if you wann trace hip hops success to one thing, that one thing is inevitably going to be personality. House needs to work on that, and do a more thorough job promoting itself. It is, after all, never entirely about the music, not for Mozart, not for Miles, and not for house.

thats my 2 cents
