Kobe Bryant Faces Sexual Assault Charge In Colorado
Woman Accuses Lakers Star Of Sexually Assaulting Her

DENVER -- Kobe Bryant, the all-star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, was arrested on charge of sexual assault, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.

Kobe Bryant

A woman went to sheriff's deputies on July 1 and told investigators that she was sexually assaulted by Bryant in a hotel in the Edwards area of Eagle County the night before.

Upon review of interviews and physical evidence, investigators met with the District Attorney's Office and concluded they had enough evidence to charge Bryant with felony sexual assault.

During the investigation, Bryant, 24, was cooperative with investigators and remains cooperative with authorities, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said.

Bryant voluntarily complied with the arrest warrant by turning himself in to the sheriff's office in Eagle. He posted a $25,000 bond on July 4.

The case has since been sealed by a judge so no further information is being released. No mug shot will be released either, said the spokeswoman from the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, who refused to go into details about the case.

Bryant, who helped lead the Lakers to three consecutive National Basketball Association titles, lives in Los Angeles with his wife of three years, Vanessa Laine, and six-month-old daughter, Natalia. This past season, the Lakers lost in the Western Conference semifinals to the San Antonio Spurs.

One minute he disowns his parents, the nxt he's Mike Tyson. The next thing you know, he's gonna show up for next season with some Celtic tatoo on his face and he'll be co-hosting the Jimmy Kimmel show.

OR it could mean the economy's bad, we (the court system) need the money and who else to get bail and court costs from easily but some wealthy athlete? (remember Ray Lewis had to shovel out all that money eventhough he had nothing to do w/ that shooting in Georgia) Whatever was their reasoning for the arrest et al, I doubt if it was DNA because that takes awhile to process. Plus for some people, it's easy for them to believe a black man must have committed any crime that has to do with theft or sex so lock him up now smear his name in the media, and sort the truth out later. Im not saying I believe or disbelief the charges Im just a skeptic. Besides the DA didnt file charges against him, the sheriff's office issued a warrant ignoring what the DA's office said. graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
