View Full Version : Anyone in or have contacts in Tokyo

I am tentatively scheduled to be in Tokyo Jan 5th to Jan 24th.

I'd love to play some records while I'm there so if anyone knows any promoter contacts that would be interested in having me as a guest, without having to foot the travel/accomodations expenses of flying someone in from the US, I'd love to talk with them and get something planned.

It doesn't need to be anything big, no superstar headliner expectations or hype or any of that stuff, just someone new/different playing some good records at their party for the enjoyment of getting to check out the scene while I'm there.

Even if its not about bookings, I'd love to hear about some of the parties to check out with details like dress codes, times etc.

Respond to this thread, hit me up on PM here, or email me rob@ineci.com

Thanks

Peace

... as for stellar skills, hey man, all I can ask for in a situation like this is to be able to go somewhere and maybe make that one random night that much better. Thanks for the vote of confidence....

even tho you don't have those CD's yet because I'm a slacker smile.gif

Deesko, I'll tell you this having just returned: it's INSANE in Tokyo. Definitely check out Yellow, and go to Shibuya for your records and find out about what's going on around town...

While you're there, eat at the FoodShow in the Marc Plaza (dope, and cheap as hell)...

Think Bladerunner meets Times Square at rush hour and you've got some idea of what Tokyo is like for most of the day.

Enjoy your trip, good luck & be safe...

hiya.
i can perhaps give you a list of contacts that you may want to contact to.
but just so you know, if you were wishing to play at well known places like yellow or liquidroom, i suggest you get a hold of them at least 2 months or so in advanced :(

since it is already december, if i was your promotor, i would try to hook you up as a guest dj to already planned to perform artists smile.gif

Thanks for the info, I'm aware that most of the bigger, well known places are booked well in advance and that's cool.

I'm not even really worried so much about playing at "the" spot or trying to make this anything big.

I was thinking more along the lines of say the Tokyo equivalent of Red here in DC. A nice smaller spot that isn't just about booking the newest hottest producer, but just some nice place that holds 200 ppl, is known for playing good underground house music and usually has 2 or 3 residents who bang it every week, then if any of them are willing to have me, I'd LOVE to come get down with them, hell, I ain't even worried about time slots or being some "headliner" or anything like that. I just think it would be a lot of fun to experience and since I'm there on someone else's dime, its ALL gravy.

Let me know what you think, or who I should contact.

JMNYC -

Thanks for the info, I'll have to jot them down and check those places out. Thanks again! I'm looking forward to this enough that I have to keep telling myself to calm down, otherwise it won't happen just to spite my excitement. smile.gif

Peace!
