View Full Version : Wearing glasses

I've just got a pair of glasses for the first time in life. It's very strange, I feel a bit drunk with the periphal magnification and all that. Walking around, you can see all the pretty girls from a lot further away, which is a plus. What other delights should I expect? I'm wondering if it has that puppy effect on girls? I'm quite pissed off, though, and feel like a sulking six year old specky git.
all the nerds (and those that look like them) get fine closet-freaks - well, i know I'M a sucker for them...

Glasses are for the elite human beings that god wishes to eventually take over the world.
Contacts are for low life sub humans that have no place on this earth and people with 20 20 vision are the children of the devil.

the joys of walking into a club , having a dance and your glasses sliding off the end of your nose is something that everyone ought to experience at least once.....
my glasses actually melted once when i went to see armando and mike dunn... the tortoise shell rims just came off and i was left with ropey nhs looking silver spectacles....
i now wear contacts... smile.gif

That's cool, but what about the girls? They make me look quite clever, so it should help in any interviews. I'm shocked at how clean windows can be.

I'm actually in doubt about changing to contacts, been wearing glasses for like 15 years, and I do look clever with them, but sometimes I still feel handicapped and that's a bitch... but my guess is contacts wouldn't actually improve that.

I too wear a black retangular frame (Essence)...now I want to soften up my frames...I'm thinking more along the lines of red...and I'm realy digging the frames that are one color on the outside and another on the inside...kind of trendy but i still like them...

just kiddin', homes...do yo thang - i'm sure it's gonna be beatiful...
i gotta do the "strong" frames because everything on my face and my hair is a fair kinda brown and "light" frames would make my entire face disappear...
The eye exam was a BIOTCH though!!! I can't have anything IN my eye, but the DOCTOR insisted that he put the drops rather than me mad1.gif . I felt like the biggest wimp when I couldn't keep my eyes open for him.....He said that he had to do it for the eye exam!!!

The first time I went (I must have been 8 or 9), I was so bad that I kicked the doctor right in the gut!! I didn't mean to do it, but he kept on trying to pry my eyes open! He sent me home with a bottle of the solution and I had to practice getting the drops put in for a week! I'm still not very good at it. I've got no problem touching my own eye, but when foreign hands and fingers get too close I go nuts.....JMJ

Hey Jonny! I was supposed to wear glasses all the time but stopped at 15yrs old for cosmetic reasons! Gradualy I was becoming blind (although I didn't notice I thought I had 20/20 vision!) much to the dismay of my friends I ignored all their warnings (e.g when they were passenger in my car or lorry!) until last October when I got some to go to NY, and do you know what? everyone said how handsome/intelligent I looked!
Handsome I can go for but I'm thick as pigshit!! What I'm trying to say is go forth four eyes, and lap up the attention!!
Looking forward to meeting you through my own windows!!

More often than not I wear my glasses. Many mornings I am too lazy to put my contacts in. I have been wearing glasses for distance since the 4th grade.
I love when men who wear glasses have frames that not only fit their face, but also fits their personality - and if one can afford the luxury of having more than 2 pair to fit their many moods then all the better.
well, once you get out of high school, no one calls you four-eyes anymore or throws chocolate milk bombs at your face and knocks your glasses off because they like you, so it's all good...

And it stresses the nerdiness in any dj/music freak :D
I remember talking to Dennis Donohue, a friend from Detroit, about how Richie Hawtin looked like a nerd, he answered "don't we dj's all"...

you glasses-wearing newbies are sooooooooooooo lucky that there are actually nice frames to choose from these days.
anyway, i love wearing glasses. although the rising prices are tough to swallow, they are justified by the fresh styles now available. wish i had pictures to share of my frames... oh well.

I have a pair of sunglasses like these http://www.halloweenunlimited.com/images/product/thumbnails/29021.jpg but in brown and a touch bigger. I used to wear regular glasses about 10-12 years ago. The glasses thing started bothering me when each time I'd go to get my eyes checked, my prescription would get stronger. I thought my eyes were supposed to be getting better not worse? Luckily my vision wasn't horrendous, so I just stopped wearing the glasses altogether. Hasn't been a problem since. On other people, not a problem. There are definitely some spectacled cuties out there. Heh, heh.

i think i probably get the same amount of attention when i wear my glasses, as when i wear my contacts.
i like to wear my glasses a whole lot more though.i have become pretty fond of them.
and oh yeah, i consider myself to be nerdy.
i'm not a dork though (there is a big difference). a lot of women find men with so called nerd like qualities to be attractive.
make sure the frames you have don't obscure the face behind them. that's when they look dorky and goofy.
yay!!!! for those of us that where glasses.
yay!!!! for those of us who can admit that we are nerds.
