Whats the diff btwn a mix and blend ? A mix to me is overlaying 2 songs for at least 4 beats (measures?). A segue going from one song to another ( beats matching or close 2 it). A cut going from one song to another on the beat.

The way I see it...
To me a Blend is when you play two tracks that may have similar attributes (mainly the same key) and play them together for a long period of time.
A mix is just playing records back to back.

There's a difference.
For hip hop DJ's a blend is when you take an acapella and lay it over an instrumental of a different song.

I think these terms were invented to describe different attributes or skills needed for what Disc Jockeys (of all genres) do. As it started to develop and spread to non Jocks, what was needed was a new language in which to communicate these aspects and try to distinguish it from another. All of us that have been around just simply mix. But, the young guns try to learn it and give each property a name.
At least that is what I have observed, even back in the day. The terminology between a street player and a club mixer was different.

It's unfortunate that you feel that way, because to some of us, it's not all about mixing.

well, it's not all about quoting either, apparently.

from my experience...
mix=mixure of different records
blend=happens within a mix, going from one records to another.
cut=scratch
haven't heard of "ride," that's not to say it's not a dj term.
It's all good.
